People using bleach to kill insects and bugs

I've noticed recently not just on here but on fb with people now casually using bleach to kill insects. I've seen numerous maggots in bins threads on mn of people bleaching maggots and tonight on a gardening fb group people suggesting to pour bleach on an ants nest on the patio. Bleach is such a horrible way for any animal to die. I'm just sad people have such disregard for other forms of life to now just casually squirt bleach over a creature.

Op you do realise that you’re not being taken very seriously here?
Maggots!!!!🤢
They need to be dispatched with whatever you have to hand!

ShackUp · 22/08/2018 20:46

OP you're referring to my thread.

I had - at a guess - twenty thousand maggots or more in my bin yesterday, because the council FORGOT TO PICK IT UP!

I had to remove five bin bags CRAWLING with maggots - which I didn't kill! - and re-bag them a number of times.

I bleached the remaining maggots because, if I'd left the birds to eat them, I'd have been a fossil before they'd all gone, and I needed to get the bin on the drive before the council arrived they still haven't arrived

I never use bleach on anything - hate the stuff - but yesterday was a one-off emergency. Remove your judgey pants from my maggoty driveway.

Do you want a pic? Grin

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 22/08/2018 20:49

Yeah!

Racecardriver · 22/08/2018 20:49

On what basis do you actually propose that bleaching is worse than any other kind of death? Have you seen how insects react when sprayed with insecticide or set on fire or drowned? That definitely any look pleasant. If you have ever watched a bird rat a big toy will also see the bug writhing and desperately trying to get away (same goes for birds being eat by bugs). I think you have just made up this weird thing about bleach being horrible but everything else being fine in your head for some reason.

ShackUp · 22/08/2018 20:50

You did ask I'm going to get banned for posting grim pics

It's on the app btw so some of you won't see this

Oh - that was after the bleach/boiling water! Before was Envy

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 22/08/2018 20:51

Show us yer maggots Shack !

CalishataFolkart · 22/08/2018 20:53

What’s the problem if the maggots are in the bin? Why do they need to be removed/killed?

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 22/08/2018 20:53

Blimey that looks pleasant 🤢
I’d definitely have reached for the bleach!

ShackUp · 22/08/2018 20:53

The maggots had the last laugh though, some HUGE Beatles came to eat them last night and keeled over (I've named them John and George, is that in poor taste? Grin)

Kidssendingmenuts · 22/08/2018 20:54

I don't just use bleach ladies. I use boiling water too!! There in there because the flies got in when the kid wasn't closed properly. So I'm not going to leave it open for tweety pie to go in my bin and eat them!

Also my cat is a twat and would just eat the bird anyway and drag it's full body into my house with the maggots inside it!

No thank you very fucking muchly! Bleach and boiling water it is!!

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 22/08/2018 20:54

Calishta are you taking the piss?

Fuck. Maggots are betting bleach, hot water, disinfectant ect..

Flies spead diseases, vomit on and walk shit all over my food.

Am I going to be sprinkling maggots all over the lawn where my kids play - no. Hmm

Optimusprimesmother · 22/08/2018 20:56

I bet Calishta neighbours love her Grin

Kidssendingmenuts · 22/08/2018 20:56

Lid not kid! Though this summer holiday I'm surprised the fuckers haven't been put in the wheelie bin with the maggots! X

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 22/08/2018 20:56

shack 😂

AfterSchoolWorry · 22/08/2018 20:58

Just chuck the maggots on the grass for the birds

Who has time for that? Scraping maggots from the inside of a deep, stinking bin and transporting them to the grass?

Don't be ridiculous, I'm lucky I'd I manage to get the bin left out amongst all the other endless tasks to be done in life.

My bin is there to serve me, not the other way around. Do maggots even have brains?

I can't believe I'm entertaining this!

ScattyCharly · 22/08/2018 20:59

Come on op, most of us don’t feel good about killing anything living but we have to keep our living spaces hygienic and clear of pests. We see stuff, don’t know what to do, panic a bit and improvise with what we have. Which very often is going to be bleach, boiling water etc.

Usernom1234567890 · 22/08/2018 20:59

Epsom salts are really great for seeing off by maggot btw. Much better than bleach and boiling water.

ShackUp · 22/08/2018 20:59

65% of the maggots are still alive, btw, they're just contained in black bags.

DH just said 'I wouldn't have used bleach, it's on our ground, not ideal.' THANKS DH. I asked him if I was being 'unmaggotarian'.

Myrugrats1 · 22/08/2018 21:02

I just don't like how people are now casually using bleach to kill things now. Just pour them down the drain or leave them for the birds. Or even leave them to be tipped in the dust cart with the rubbish I guess.

ohdeardeardear · 22/08/2018 21:04

This has to be a wind up. Tell you what, gather up the maggots out of your bin and take them into the house to be lovingly nurtured until they hatch . all lif is sacred, sheesh

😂😂😂😂*

I would bleach maggots.

Usernom1234567890 · 22/08/2018 21:05

The bin only gets emptied once fortnightlyShock There'd be bluebottles everywhere by then.
