AIBU neighbours toddler unattended near the road

So had a few issues with my neighbour. 1) fan going off at 4am every morning wakes my son up (wonder why you need a loud fan going off in the middle of the night? Stinks of weed also) had to move my child out his room because of the noise n the smell
2) neighbours telling me her child who is 18 months old is at the top window climbing on the windowsill (same room the fan is going off)
3) came home from shopping today to see her 18 month old child stood near the road on his own no adult in sight. Front door was wide open no sign of the mother. And tbh I was thinking seriously? The dangers of the roads where we live is bad enough then without the thort of potential predators (u never know!) And top the post of by saying she is not the type I can pull up about this as I did pull her about the fan at 4am but it only caused problems and the fan still going off. I know her child isn't my business but if he got hurt I wudnt forgive myself so question is what would you Do? We live on a council estate full of wrong uns n teenagers driving stupidly.

I would report them to social services about the child wandering off on its own. Don't know why anyone wouldn't.

ShatnersWig · 21/08/2018 12:17

But only that. If you haven't seen the window behaviour, you can't comment.

Myotherusernameisbest · 21/08/2018 12:18

I would go and get the child and take them home and tell her that her child was playing on the side of the road and you were worried and leave it at that. Don't lecture unless you want to get into a conflict.

I certainly wouldn't just leave the child by the road though.

apriljune12 · 21/08/2018 12:18

If I saw a toddler near the road unnatended I would call the police and stay with the toddler.

Deffo SS you can do it anonymously.

Coldshoulders · 21/08/2018 12:25

I shouted her name after being stood there for over 5 mins n she came to the door I said little ones out here near the road n she came out picked him up n walked back inside didn't say a word just gave me the death stare! I haven't seen the window behaviour myself so I can't comment on that tbf. I was just really concerned tbh so just asking what other mums would think about it. My neighbour is quiet doesn't party or do anything it was just the weed smell the fan n the child near the road alone. I will just have to play this cool because if I rang the ss she might think it was me but saying that the child's safety is more important and as a mother myself I'm disgusted to see him outside all alone near the road.

How do you hear a fan from next door?

DriveInSaturday · 21/08/2018 15:27

Surely the fan going off at 4 am is the bathroom fan triggered by switching the light on when she goes for a wee in the night. It's annoying for you, but I'd give you short shrift too if you told me to wee in the dark so as not to wake your PFB.

It doesn't seem to be related to your other concerns and I certainly wouldn't include it in a call to social services.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 21/08/2018 16:05

The fan may well be one of those bathroom extractors. However, as you say you can smell weed, there might possibly be a home grow. People do use large fans to cool their growing areas when the growing lights are on. The fact you can hear it in your own house suggests that it is quite powerful.

I would usually say "live and let live" but you mention that the child goes into the same room where the fan is located. Now I freely admit I could well be putting two and two together and coming up with five and I hope I am.

Bettyswitch · 21/08/2018 17:29

Sounds like your neighbour has got a grow on op!
You should report this to 101 and if it is the case then SS will soon come knocking.

knicksfan · 21/08/2018 17:33

Oh I feel for you so much. Lady in my street is mother Teresa goddess of the earth on Facebook but has 3 kids between the ages of 2 & 7 running wild in the street on the road and climbing walls at any given moment unsupervised Hmm

FlipnTwist · 21/08/2018 17:37

doesn't the weed only smell when it is smoked, not when it is growing and fresh?

We have had a ceiling on all night for the past 3 months-wonder what our neighbours are thinking?

Coldshoulders · 21/08/2018 22:55

I hear it be because my son's bedroom is next door n the fan wakes him up so I have moved him out the room n it's not the bathroom that's next to my son's room it's her kids room. Its loud I'm from a council estate not bothered about abit of weed but the fan does wake my son up it's a buzzing echoing noise. I mean they might not be growing weed but seriously if it was the bathroom (which I know it isnt) why would anyone have a shower at 4am n leave the fan on til 4pm? She doesn't work so I'm also wondering where the weed smell is coming from only in my son's room no other room in the house? Still this doesn't add why there's an 18 month old child near the road unattended on a shitty estate the weed fan is just another pointer in what I think is happening next door and I'm sure if anyone who had a disabled child being woken up at 4am by a fan who wouldn't find that odd?😂 n annoying also thanks for all replies tho I don't know what to do report her to ss n leave the drug cultivation out of it? 😂

If you report to ss and they visit they would smell the weed when visiting anyway so 2 birds with 1 stone.

danni0509 · 21/08/2018 23:11

Was it a one off with toddler on street though?

Kids do escape, she could of been on the toilet thinking he was napping on sofa or playing nicely, or making herself a coffee and thinking he was watching Pippa pig anything really,

Not condoning it, just saying as a one off..... I wouldn't be phoning social services.

Now if this was happening on more than one occasion I wouldn't hesitate.

As for the weed that's a different story.

Paie · 21/08/2018 23:33

Following with interest - there's a family down our street who let their 4 year old and 7 year old wander about unsupervised. They've destroyed a tree outside our house and we've had a few incidents- bolts being thrown into neighbours garden, the kids playing knock down ginger on my wheelchair using neighbours door...
Think I will be reporting them to SS tomorrow as it's gone on too long and getting silly now

danni0509 · 21/08/2018 23:48

Paie 7 year old wouldn't be of a concern I wouldn't imagine, my streets full of 7 year olds playing out, 4 yr old unsupervised hmm not so good! Have you spoken to the family? X

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 22/08/2018 00:06

why would anyone have a shower at 4am n leave the fan on til 4pm

So the fan is on for a full 12 hours then? Shit, when the dope plants are flowering (growing the actual buds that people smoke), the lights are indeed on for 12 hours. You'd have a fan on along with the lights, to cool things down. The buds growing on the plant do reek and if there were 3-4 of them, the smell would be pretty phenomenal.

Obviously, it's not a cert that they are growing but all the signs are there...
