GreatDuckCookery I do register it. I find people jiggling their leg, talking, opening noisy packets, eating crisps, walking across the screen etc annoying in the cinema but I accept it happens and go anyway.

Lydiaatthebarre · 19/08/2018 22:58

Sandstorm

Maybe you should listen to the announcements a little more carefully the next time you go to the cinema as you seem to be under the impression that it's entirely up to you whether or not you keep your phone switched on.

crazycatgal · 19/08/2018 22:59

I can't be bothered with the cinema anymore there are always people: on their phones, talking and kicking your seat. It's not an enjoyable experience anymore.

PrincessScarlett · 19/08/2018 23:00

Last weekend I was at the cinema and some idiot was using the torch function on her phone every 2 minutes looking in her bag, checking on her kids etc. One of their party came into the cinema 15 minutes into the film and couldn't see where they were so she was stood up waving her f*cking phone torch around. Then instead of going through a row where noone was sitting the late comer decides to clamber across a full row of people causing much disruption.

What is wrong with people???

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 19/08/2018 23:03

Those things you mention can't be helped to a degree, continually looking at your phone can.

It's a pain, just try and stop it. You will be pissing other people off around you.

Sparklesocks · 19/08/2018 23:04

Sandstormbrewing it’s incredibly selfish behaviour - checking your phone is distracting. It lights up, it takes people away from the film they have paid to see.
If you need to check your phone regularly then the cinema isn’t for you - maybe try a restaurant or a pub.
Your needs don’t trump anyone else’s despite whatever reasons you have.

Slimtimeagain · 19/08/2018 23:10

It's not just other people telling you though, sandstorm. They actually announce that you are to turn phones off. If people are unable to sit through 1 film without checking their phones then the cinema isn't the place for them. I can't stand it. People are so addicted to their phones. What do you think people did years ago when they had a babysitter? Phones haven't always been around!

JustlikeDevon · 19/08/2018 23:35

Short version of recent irritation- 2 women, mm2, checking phone then discussing!!

Sandstorm just go for a fucking pizza.

I fucking hate the cinema for a thousand reasons. People are 999 of them.

alleypalley · 20/08/2018 00:07

I can't say people having a quick check of their phone bothers me particularly. People rustling and munching their way way through a bag of crisps/popcorn/sweets during the film annoys the crap out of me though.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 20/08/2018 00:20

I actually love the cinema as i have no inclination to go for my phone. I watch a film at home and the temptation kicks in, but at the cinema i get far more engrossed in the film.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 20/08/2018 00:22

If the contrast is on low i dont have too much of an issue if others do though. What irritates me is ive noticed loads of people now have alerts where their camera flash light blinks repeatedly.

As others have pointed out, you are not allowed to have your phone on in the cinema. It is quite clearly announced at the start that phones must be switched off, so it doesn't matter if the odd individual here or there doesn't find it annoying. Most people do, and a condition of going to the cinema is that you switch-off-your-phone. If you can't comply with that simple request then go somewhere else and stop being a bloody nuisance, and then whining about all the reasons that it's okay for you to ignore a polite and reasonable request.
