Sparklesocks I don't make a call in the cinema! I check to see if I've had a message or missed call. If a call from babysitter I do go out the screen but I do read text messages (again only from babysitter) if I get one. It's not like I sit mumsnetting or facebooking on it!

Sandstormbrewing · 19/08/2018 21:19

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning and I always sit in an aisle seat, but due to needing the loo more than anything.

GetInTheBin · 19/08/2018 21:20

Don't worry @Sandstormbrewing, in a few months you can take bubba with you and let them watch Peppa Pig on the tablet to keep them entertained while you watch the film.

Gardeninginspring · 19/08/2018 21:25

Not the cinema but I went to see a theatre performance of 'of mice and men' beautifully done and right at the end literally just as George was about to shoot Lennie a mobile phone rang... and rang.. loudly. Then stopped. Then it went off again. This time she answered it. All credit to the actors they stopped and waited before delivering the final lines. Arsehole. Completely ruined the end of the show for the entire theatre.

Womaningreen · 19/08/2018 21:25

@MetalMix
Brilliant!
Grin

I would rather wait till it comes out on DVD than deal with all the crap. Though if I'm allowed to do a jab, jab, uppercut

Reminds me of this
Violence and swearing alert - no blood, just fucking hilarious

Wow sandstormbrewing - your attitude is incredible.

Selfish fuckers make the world such a lovely place. I’m ok and fuck everyone else.

If your son can’t cope with being left with a sitter you need to wait until he’s older or go to places that don’t require you to ruin others experience to check your phone.

It’s not fucking rocket science.

applesisapple5 · 19/08/2018 21:27

But @sandstormbrewing what exactly does checking your phone do?! It doesn't alert a vomit-cleaning robot I assume?! Leave the cinema to text or at the very VERY least turn your screen brightness to the very minimum and cover your phone.

I was at a gig (seated so couldn't move) £60 we'd all paid, bloke on his phone checking FB messenger every ten minutes Angry it baffles me that people have the attention span of a gnat.

Womaningreen · 19/08/2018 21:27

X post with Gardeninginspring

OMD! What was the reaction in the theatre?

mumeeee · 19/08/2018 21:29

Whenever I have been to the cinema, There has always been a notice come up on the screen that tells everyone to turn mobiles off.
In fact if staff notice you on a phone during the film you would be asked to leave

underneaththeash · 19/08/2018 21:30

I find that if you go out and say that you think the person in G23 is videoing the film, they come in pretty quickly.
I just tend to ask the person to turn off their phone and if they don't do the above.

Gardeninginspring · 19/08/2018 21:31

Oh the best part was the woman was a teacher... the call was the coach saying they were outside to pick up the group.
The reaction was a lot of sighs and angry glances at her. She'd a brass neck and acted as though nothing had happened.

user1485342611 · 19/08/2018 21:37

You really do sound brazen and defiant sandstorm. You know quite well that your phone checking is annoying and distracting for other cinema goers but hey ho you're okay so who cares?

I hope you don't pass that attitude on to your DS.

Womaningreen · 19/08/2018 21:38

@Gardeninginspring

I wonder what the pupils thought?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could fine those people as well as kick them out?

We need cinema and theatre ninjas!

Talkingfrog · 19/08/2018 21:39

I use mine during the ads before, but a lot of others are using theirs too. During the film it is on silent and in my bag. I may glance at it in my bag to check time, but only to see how close we are to the end,to judge whether I can wait for the toilets or not.
Yanbu

Sandstormbrewing · 19/08/2018 21:40

applesisapple5 I leave and go home to deal with it.

I have the lux app on my phone which turns the brightness down below the minimum in the dark and have it on complete silence so it doesn't even vibrate. I'm not a total monster!

EveningShadows · 19/08/2018 21:44

“I’m not a monster”

Don’t be so ludicrous and dramatic - no matter how low you have your screen turned down it’s still distracting and annoying. And how close to the cinema do you live???

Oh don’t worry, this “fuck everyone else” attitude will most definitely be passed onto DC. It’s where it comes from.

user1485342611 · 19/08/2018 21:47

"I'm not a total monster"

No, but you're a bit of an arsehole.

BrewDoggy · 19/08/2018 21:48

Sandstormbrewing selfish bastard.

Sandstormbrewing · 19/08/2018 21:49

1.4 miles EveningShadows which equates to 4mins drive in the evening. One of the reasons we go, which has been 3 times since DS was born 3 years ago.

Sandstormbrewing · 19/08/2018 21:50

user1485342611 I'm sure you're a bit of an arsehole about something too. Everyone is, this is mine.

EveningShadows · 19/08/2018 21:51

Well if it’s so infrequent you could give it up entirely with no sacrifice. Job done. And not ruin other people’s evenings.

Everyone’s a winner.

user1485342611 · 19/08/2018 21:53

Well the thing is Sandstorm I don't deliberately piss people off in public shared spaces. You obvious do and do it knowingly. So attacking anyone who criticises your selfish anti social behaviour doesn't magically make your behaviour okay.

ktp693 · 19/08/2018 21:53

I used to work for cineworld and part of the job was making sure no one was on their phones if we caught them twice they would be asked to leave with no refund. It was always worse during kids club in the morning. People just didn't seem to understand that taking a picture of the screen or their kids with the flash on would get you ejected🙄 We could also ban you and report you if you took pictures of the screen as it's copyright so illegal. Great job though

Sandstormbrewing · 19/08/2018 21:54

EveningShadows you have absolutely no idea the circumstances as to why I occasionally need (and yes, it is a need) to leave the house without DS but with DH somewhere I can sit, leave at a moment's notice, be home quickly and get to the toilet asap.

RiverTam · 19/08/2018 21:54

Fucks sake, Sandstormbrewing, you shouldn’t go to the movies if you have to keep tabs on the babysitter like this. It’s incredibly stressful for others and deeply selfish.

In our local cinema there’s a message at the beginning of films about phones including pointing out about the light. I have rarely know people to abuse this and I always say something if someone does it.
