Most young women going to see a psychic will have two children. So saying that and "a girl and a boy" is a pretty safe bet. Particularly if people say "Well, 2 boys, so near enough"

niceupthedance · 19/08/2018 10:40

Yes lots, but the weirdest one was a street drinker who approached me when I was 14, grabbed my hand and said "you were in a very famous burns hospital when you were a baby for three weeks but you have no scars" - I was in Stoke Mandeville as a toddler after DF spilled boiling soup on me. They were trialling a new cream at the time and luckily I didn't have any scars. I was so freaked out I ran off...

HollowTalk

But she saw your SIL? So couldn’t she have found out this information from her during their sessions?

Anquin · 19/08/2018 10:47

I have never wanted to know my future but the two colleagues I have known who did (different workplaces) were both happily married and were told they would split up with their husbands.
Within 18 months of their entirely separate readings, both women were divorced. I can’t help but believe that the readings sowed a seed for both of them and that perhaps getting a reading done was their first step to a previously unconscious feeling their marriages weren’t working.

ScreamingValenta · 19/08/2018 10:47

i had my palm read once and was told that I would meet someone with connections to two specific major cities

As an experiment, I've just run down a list of cities in the UK. Even as a person who has never had a wide social circle, and has no extended family, there were a surprising number I could claim a connection to.

dinosaurkisses · 19/08/2018 10:57

What crushes any belief for me is that anyone would take money for readings.

If I had the ability to give comfort and reassurance to people by genuinely connecting them to passed relations, would I be charging £30 for a ten minute reading? No!

I always feel a bit bad to say that I don’t believe and that it’s all shite, because some people have obviously got a lot of comfort from these people.

StripesandWings · 19/08/2018 11:04

The Derren Brown one that stuck with me was when the psychic says something like "3 is a significant number of people in your family"
Some people will see that as themselves and two parents, some as themselves and two siblings ; or three sisters (+brothers); three aunts + mum or two aunts+ mum so three sisters in the generation above... It can be done so many ways

I do think there are things that we don't yet have explanations for but I am dubious of psychics who charge money...

CommanderDaisy · 19/08/2018 11:17

TaMamaiSaChistinAgusSanOifig she said the woman who raised me not the woman I was born to.
She was very scarily accurate.

Nibledbyducks · 19/08/2018 12:12

My Grandmother had a psychic reading when she was 15. She was told she would have a bit, and that after a long hard wait a girl. She had my father then 5 years later had a prem still birth at 5 months, she asked not to see the baby as she didn't want to know if it was the girl she was told about. She couldn't have more children after that. Years later my parents were visiting when my Mother died. She brought me up, she believed I was the girl she was told about 50 years before.

I also confidently told her she would meet all of her great grandchildren before she died when I was 4 years old. She died when my DD, my youngest child of four, was 10 months old.

MuffinMad · 19/08/2018 12:24

Many years ago I visited a psychic and was told that I had someone in my family, who had died many years before, watching over me. The psychic said the name was Frances.
I had never heard of anyone by that that name and assumed it was a girls name.

When I came home and told my mum, she said that she had a cousin called Frances, who was actually a male, who had died many years before I was born.

On the other hand, the same psychic told me I would have twins in my late 40's.

That didn't happen. Smile

beyondthesky · 19/08/2018 13:11

I've only ever had one reading about 25 years ago. Had no intention of seeing her , I just went with a friend to keep her company. I am completely cynical about these things.

I had just started seeing my DH. She described his DM's illness to me in quite specific detail at a time when We had not discussed her death.

A few months later when y DH did tell me about his DM I mentioned what the psychic had said and he was visibly shaken by it.

She also described our future house which we moved into about 10 years later.

It was quite an unusual house in many ways in terms of shape and layout. She described the outside of it, which isn't visible from the street and that it had a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor.

My DH arranged the viewing at short notice and we hadn't seen the EA details before we got there. As soon as we pulled up I knew it was the house.

We were in a bidding war for the house which we pulled out of because we thought price had got too high. Two Other bidders pulled out so they contacted us to say it was still available.

I often think of seeing her again but as i didn't even know her name or her exact address I have no Chance of finding her again.

hamburgers · 19/08/2018 13:29

Kind of. I saw a psychic about 3 years ago. Psychic told me we would lose everything financially and it would last about 2 years but then be very rich again.

It was weird to hear as we were financially very comfortable so I didn't believe her. Would you believe it - we lost almost everything (long story)!! The part about rich again hasn't happened but we are slowly getting there.

MorningsEleven · 19/08/2018 13:38

I went to see Derek Acorah once - it was peak Most Haunted- and he asked if the name MacDonald meant anything to anyone. It was in Edinburgh fucking Playhouse.

PrivateDoor · 19/08/2018 13:43

This thread has reminded me that I went to see one in 2011 and wrote down what she said - I just found it in my filofax Grin I had completely forgotten this until now!

Anyway she correctly stated that I had a ds and a dd but said I should have another daughter and asked had I had a mc - I said no and she asked was I pregnant. I said no and she said I should have another daughter and she said she was confused. I actually found out a few days later I was pregnant and I had a dd.

HOWEVER she also said I would have another son who would follow my ds around everywhere - I didn't though I have a nephew who literally follows my ds everywhere so I don't know if she saw that? Or if she was just completely wrong Grin

She claimed my children will all do well and cause me no trouble (this is the bit I find most far fetched haha!). She said dd will be on tv and ds will be great at football Hmm

She said I will have a great happy and long life with no major illnesses and that dh will win money. She said I will buy a caravan which I would love to but cannot see happening!

She said I would be well respected in work and new opportunities would come my way which was vague. As it happens I have taken a whole new career direction in recent years.

She said a male relative would become very ill but would be ok, my father did become very ill and did recover, however again it was vague in the way she said it.

So in conclusion, I enjoyed the experience, I remember feeling fantastic when I got out and I enrolled 2 yr old ds in football classes haha! But really I don't actually believe in it Sad

MadamBatty · 19/08/2018 13:52

A friend had ‘psychic’. Come to her house about 15 years ago. I don’t nor did I ever believe it but went along with the experience for the craic

She was so laughably wrong
I wouldn’t always be a SAHM I would eventually get a little part time jo
If I had a 4th pregnancy it would be boy girl twins
I would never have a serious illness
My husband is my soulmate, we met in a previous life

I child free by choice, v senior in my work sphere, was divorcing at the time & almost died a couple of years ago

Aboutme77 · 19/08/2018 14:22

Yes 100% accurate on two of the many things she told me:

  1. parking was horrendous on her road
  2. the session would cost me £45

I swear I am not lying Grin

Flashingbeacon · 19/08/2018 14:37

There’s a long runnning family joke about the women in our family being witches. Primarily because for 3 generations they’ve outlive their husbands by about 30 years. My granny can tell if someone is pregnant almost as soon as they are, sometimes before they know themselves. But that’s growing up in a big family, surrounded by big family’s and being poor. You learn the signs. My aunt phones people when they are struggling and need support before they’ve asked. But she’s basically alert to the signs and genuinely takes an interest in the lives of their loved ones. I’m reasonable accurate at knowing when people are ill and when it’s somethibg serious, but that’s common sense and not 100%. None of us believe it’s anytginb supernatural but when it comes up people want us to believe. It’s shame my gran doesn’t go out as much these days, she loved a knowing smile.

StopTakingAllTheGoodNames · 19/08/2018 14:46

Probably not the same but I visited a palm reader at Blackpool peer (Grin) just for the fun of it, I was on my own... she said she could see I have 3 children, but one of them is no longer here... I have 2 children and I lost one not long before going there. Freaked me out!

scammedohshit · 19/08/2018 14:53

I had a psychic tell me she could see me going around to peoples houses in my car. She said she didn't know the name of the job but it was like a social worker but not. I was training to be a HV

bobstersmum · 19/08/2018 15:57

I love reading these, some are amazing! I have never been to one but I would love to go. I am on absolutely no social media so would be interesting.

Elderflower14 · 19/08/2018 16:09

I went to one about eighteen months ago. She pointed to the area I was sitting in and said that someone had lost a baby. I said I had. She found me after she had finished and said that I was the one person that night that she knew she bad to give a message to.

Elderflower14 · 19/08/2018 16:15

Just remembered another one I saw. He knew that I had had ivy taken off my house and mentioned the name Harold. I have my Great Great Uncle Harold's WW1 discharge paper. He also told me that someone had hung themselves from the stairs at the back of my house. I knew someone had hung themselves but the stairs aren't at the back of my house the kitchen is. (house remodelled by friends we bought house from). I rang my friend the next morning and asked her where the stairs used to be and she said where the kitchen is!!! 😲

Elderflower14 · 19/08/2018 16:16

bad had

LeftRightCentre · 19/08/2018 16:22

No because there is no such thing as a psychic.

AliasGrape · 19/08/2018 16:52

I was visiting Salem, MA with a friend and there’s so much gimmicky witch stuff there. We were given a voucher for a tarot reading and I went for mine (my friend didn’t like the idea) out of curiosity, not believing anything either way really.

She was able to tell me I’m a teacher (I look like one I guess?) had no children of my own and had lost my father young - all true, and all before I’d so much as sat down. She described a breakup with my ex - she could see him in uniform which was also true, and accurately said it was sudden, shocking and happened in x month.

That’s was the cards for ‘the past’, for ‘the present’ she said someone close to me was very ill and it was in the bones. 2 weeks later we found out my mum had bone cancer.

I can’t remember what she said for the future, just vague stuff really.

It’s not made me ‘believe’ it was just a weird thing that happened, I think she was very clever at cold reading and that in itself was interest to see. The thing about the illness in the bones is weird and a bit spooky but it was a fluke I guess.
