I saw a one once. She sat me down and told me I wouldnt have children for a long time. I'm a slight person and was six moths pregnant but hiding it well under a baggy dress. The baby is 7 years old now.

I saw two others. Miles apart. They both told me they saw a man at an allotment showing me vegetables and both named more or less the exact same veg he was showing Confused

ShowerGel9 · 19/08/2018 08:55

Also the last one I saw didn't charge me as she didn't connect to the person I wanted to come through. I pulled my money out and she told me to put it away!!

Vanillaradio · 19/08/2018 08:56

The one I saw told me I would marry an older man. True. Also that I would have one dd and twin boys. I have one ds so not so good there. Also that I would live to my 90s. Hoping that's true. Also that a lady was watching me, she was on my mother's side of the family, her name began with J and she loved pearls. My mother's mother's name began with J and she did love pearls.
So, mixed results....

People ought to watch Derren Brown and read up on cold reading and confirmation bias.

winterdeballesteros · 19/08/2018 09:00

@Vanillaradio don't most women marry older men though? It was definitely an educated guess 😊

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2018 09:03

"I won euromillions because a psychic told me the numbers. Best £20 investment ever"
First useful psychic. I was going to say I hope you shared it with her, but then I realised that she had obviously won on her own account the previous 6 weeks..........Grin

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 19/08/2018 09:04

I'm dead inside and have no interest in anything even remotely woo, but MIL is really into her psychic sessions. She goes once a year to the same one to be peddled the same nonsense.

The year I met DH MIL had been to the psychic and she'd told her DH was "going to meet a blonde haired manager" and she'd be his one. A few months later DH and I met, he eventually introduced her to me and - this is the absolute highlight of it all - afterwards MIL said to DH "are you sure you don't want to wait for that blonde woman, Idontbelieve just doesn't fit what the psychic said at all".

I am convinced that there must be some genuine ones. I'm also convinced that a huge majority are crooks who take money from vulnerable and hurt people searching for answers. And it is a shoddy way to make a living if you're not genuine.

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2018 09:08

"I am convinced that there must be some genuine ones"

Why?

KidLorneRoll · 19/08/2018 09:10

At best, readings are a harmless parlour trick that is actually pretty easy to learn.

At worst it is an entire industry exploiting people at their lowest ebbs, charging them through the nose for false hope and empty lies. These people are nothing more than scum.

There are no genuine psychics. Those who say they are are either lying or deluded. I can say with absolute certainty that anyone who believes they have had a genuine experience are wrong.

MardyMavis · 19/08/2018 09:22

I've been to see two, one a bloke was recommended oh he's great they said....what a load of shite! He told me exactly what he told them! I'd have 3 kids wrong. My grandad was stood behind me I asked which one he said my mums dad, he was alive and kicking I told him he was shit as well.
I went to see another and she was right about a lot of things, that were hard to know and this was before social media, she knew what I used to do, she knew I went swimming when I was stressed! I was pregnant at the time and she predicted a boy. There were a few things she wasn't accurate with so most probably a fluke.
I wouldn't go to one now but I think I'm a tiny bit physic myself it just comes to me.
May sound strange but random things and feelings and dreams.

SerenDippitty · 19/08/2018 09:23

The one I saw told me I would marry an older man.

This would have been technically correct even if you’d married someone a year or a few months older.

drinkswineoutofamug · 19/08/2018 09:24

About 3 years ago, while working , me and a nurse looked after a post-op patient. The patient said to me I was a wonderful caring nurse. I replied I wasn't a nurse, but was considering doing my training. The patient replied well your grandad is proud of you. I asked which grandad, both now passed. The patient said your Christmas grandad. How could this person know that my grandad had died on Christmas Day 5 years ago.

Vanillaradio · 19/08/2018 09:27

He's 7 years older. But yes no exact age difference was specified so it wasn't the most specific prediction............

NextInLine · 19/08/2018 09:32

I've seen a couple who have said bits that come try and others not so much.
However my husband, then boyfriend, went to a Romany travelling psychic after his mum died, he was a massive sceptic so I'm not sure why, even he doesn't know.
But they were very specific.
Described his job, told him he'd be promoted and then promoted again quickly.
Told him he'd have 3 children before a certain age, (quite a young age).
We hadn't been together long at the time, but she described me and told him I would mother his children and we would be married.

FrenchMartiniAhh · 19/08/2018 09:35

Anyone know any in the east mids? I'm curious to try.

Clawdy · 19/08/2018 09:36

I went to see a psychic in one of the little tents in Blackpool years ago. We were desperately trying for a baby at the time, so I asked her about it. She said "I can see a baby....It will be next June." From September onwards I was counting months! Nothing happened, but strangely, when June arrived I had an early miscarriage. Only thought about her telling me that, weeks later.

There’s a $1m prize for any psychic who can do something that can’t be reproduced by someone who claims no psychic powers. Strangely the prizeremains unclaimed decades after it was launched.

ScreamingValenta · 19/08/2018 09:47

Leaving aside the question of whether they are genuine, what most of the experiences described her have in common is that they are of no practical use.

Other than the poster who won the lottery and the poster who found some lost jewellery, most seem to have been told things they already knew about themselves, or about aspects of their future which they can't change.

Shellyanne131 · 19/08/2018 10:04

I went to a tarot reading with my mum she had booked before but she didn’t have social media or anything back then. He alluded to a very bad situation that she was going to go through over the next 12 months he was careful not to say what and I thought he looked uncomfortable, Mum assumed my dad was really stressed with work and was going to have a heart attack or something, couple of months later my dad confessed to having an affair as the stress of hiding it was making him ill they had been together for 30 years and it was a massive shock, it was a really bad time for her, they stayed together but it was rough. She also asked the man whether I would meet someone and be happy (I’d just split from my ex husband)he said I would but the person for me was far away at the time but coming closer and he was connected with lots of money, he didn’t have lots of money but wasn’t poor. I met my now dh 4 years later, he had been living in Australia at the time of my tarot reading and he’s a mortgage adviser. He also said my sister would have children she was ttc and struggling at the time she has twin girls - I thought he was very good

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2018 10:18

If you said Christmas grandad I bet you could get a hit with most people. Absolutely everyone in my extended family would connect it to my fil- who was utterly ridiculously in love with Christmas and went over the top with presents and decorations. Even a grandad who visited at Christmas would be a hit if you wanted it to be.

EZA15 · 19/08/2018 10:28

Thanks anyway @Hollow. I went to see one in Nantwich last week and she was amazing - very spot on with things she could never have known. I do enjoy going to see them, I don’t love my life with what they tell me though

FishesThatFly · 19/08/2018 10:31

Mine said l would fall pregnant very quickly with a girl.

A year and fertility treatment later, l had a boy...

ParkheadParadise · 19/08/2018 10:39

Years ago I went to see one at my friends house. She told me that I would have 2 Dd's. I laughed and told her she was wrong. Dd1 was 15 at the time.
8 yrs later I wasn't laughing when Dd2 came along.

Omgineedanamechange · 19/08/2018 10:39

I’ve posted this before, but it deserves a second telling.

ExH had a niece, I’ll call her Sue, who claimed to be psychic. I always thought it was a crock of shite. Anyway, ex and I divorced, and as he wasn’t my DDs father, and she was in her late teens we never saw him, or his family again.

Fast forward 15 years. DD has a very serious accident and is in intensive care, hallucinating due to the morphine. Insisted that Sue had visited, and was annoyed as she wouldn’t let her sleep. Sue had definately not been, but as DD was also adamant that she was in a train station and rabbits were everywhere, we didn’t take much notice.

A few days after the accident, I got a Facebook message fom Sue, asking after DD and what had happened. I told her, and asked how she knew, she said “I had to lead her back three times, it was too soon for her”.

DDs heart stopped three times after the accident. No one but me, DH and the drs knew that, as I didn’t want my frail and already frantic parents worrying any more than they already were.
