Aibu to be scared of hospital referral

I have what looks like a mole in the corner of my eye, was referred under the two week rule by my GP query melanoma. Saw the eye consultant on Thursday who examined my eye, then sent me for photos and scans. They reviewed them and phoned me yesterday to tell me they were referring me to a specialist professor at an hospital 50 miles away. They know the thing in my eye is a pigmented lesion and they have referred me because if it is a melanoma they don’t have the expertise to deal with it. I don’t mind telling you I am scared, anxious and on the verge of having a panic attack.

Deep breaths OP. It's natural to be scared but you're being seen quickly which means if you need any treatment you will receive it straight away. I'm sorry you're so worried, do you have people around you for support?

I have my husband and my older children who are 19 and 17, my youngest knows nothing. My brothers and sister live either abroad or miles away and I haven’t told my friends.

Can you do something nice today? Lunch somewhere or a walk? Or maybe tackle one of those horrible jobs that needs doing, to try and take your mind of it.

I'm rubbish in situations like this too and sit there ruminating and obsessively googling which doesn't help at all.
