To not expect to see a naked man playing football in the park...

I had a friend staying over the weekend and we decided to take DD to the park at about 10 on Sunday morning. We walked up the road toward the entrance as as we got closer I could see teh whole park was empty apart from a 'large' man playing football in what appeared to be a skintight beige trousers and top.
My friend and I both stopped as he bent over and realised that he was actually stark bollock naked. He spotted us and put on some skimpy pants, and then carried on kicking a ball against the kids playground fence.

I called the police as I didn't fancy approaching him and they duly turned up and escorted him home. Apparently he thought it was most unfair as he didn't see what he had done wrong because he put his pants on when he saw us!

I don't think my friend will be back anytime soon.....

Woah, I go out for the day and the thread degenerates into clowns?!! Are you lot trying to give me nightmares?!

In my defence (can't believe I have to have one, but there you go) I called the police as he was playing on the edge of the children's playground and I didn't feel comfortable approaching him and asking him to leave myself. I didn't think he was a risk or a threat as he probably would have legged it if he was but we thought he either had SN or was pissed and waiting for a lift or something.
I am glad they thought he had SN and escorted him home as some people may have just laid into him, and at least he will know not to do it again.

Oh, and WB, it was in Cwmbwrla.....!

Madamez, answer the question that Kerry put to you please

Naked man, in park, at 10 in the morning.

How deliciously hilarious is that?

SueBaroo · 04/06/2007 19:26

Well, yeah, actually, my brother has SN, and I would definitely want someone to phone the police if he was doing this.

It was hysterically funny, the police, on foot and switchboard, and some neighbours who turned up to watch all thought so....

Desiderata · 04/06/2007 19:30

Of course, Suebaroo - it's just, I don't know, they're something exhilarating about a man, perhaps institutionalized for a long time, doing something so liberating and eccentric. I don't see a sinister undertone ... and I have a ds who would have laughed.

But a daughter? Well, of course, he needs to be stopped, but I'm personally glad he had his moment of freedom

SueBaroo · 04/06/2007 19:35

Desiderata, trouble is, my brother, with his mental age of 6, was doing stuff like this and ended up with a criminal record because for waaay too long it was winked at and indulged.

But methinks this wandering thread is veering far from topic again

Desiderata · 04/06/2007 19:37

I see your point, Sue.

Chirpygirl · 04/06/2007 19:37

Actually Suebaroo, I am glad you have wandered off topic, that makes me feel a bit better about it as we discussed it before calling and decided to ring for that reason.
Was starting to feel like I was overreacting from some of the posts....

theUrbanDryad · 04/06/2007 19:37

if he was naked, was he kicking the ball barefoot?

Chirpygirl · 04/06/2007 19:41

Um, yes, why?!

OP posts:
theUrbanDryad · 04/06/2007 19:43

well, wouldn't that hurt his toes??

i speak from bitter experience...

Chirpygirl · 04/06/2007 19:47

I hadn't thought of that!

Desiderata, Kerrysmum's main objection to a man being naked in the park appeared to be that nudity is wrong because if children see a naked person they will suddenly stop being scared of the imaginary paedo on every street corner.

Also, as regards this chap, I think it's a bit of a stretch to go from the fact that he was naked in the park to suspecting that if he's not stopped he might assault someone. I'm gettting the impression that he's the sort of person who got naked because it was a hot day rather than because he was proud of his willy and wanted to wave it at folks.

LoveAngel · 04/06/2007 20:56

t was so hot at 10am in the UK that he had to strip off his undercrackers to get relief? Get real.

Let's stick to the special needs explanation.

I think most risk is at home but they certainly need to know not to go off with stangers. If I said avoid grubby looking tramps and assess who looks more of a risk than someone else is that wise advice or not? May be. In general I feel less vulnerable on a train from a wealthy man in a 3 piece suit than a shifting looking nutter muttering under his breath in rags. So they need to learn about and assess risk which is why keeping them home and not even letting teenagers outa lone is actually dangerous for them. They need experience of coming across risk and dealing with it as they get older. My daughter in the sixth form found the nude man in the park next door funny. Her friend was traumatised. It was hard for them to describe him to police as he had nothing on. Most men exposing themselves usually keep on clothes in broad day light.
