To just want people to do their bloody jobs properly in the first place?!

And not to get apologies/ offers of compensation which actually are pretty meaningless a lot of the time?

This is shops, bars/ restaurants, hotels..
But before anyone says 'well that's the service industry for you they're all on minimum wage what do you expect?' it's also insurance companies, banks, utility suppliers...the list goes on.

When did people stop actually wanting to do a decent job, and why aren't companies improving their processes rather than just throwing money at the customer?- when the money isn't really the issue!

I think cut backs play a huge part.
Staff under extra pressure can lead to mistakes, with the companies not making the profit it needs they can't employ more staff.

Many companies micromanage their staff so instead of being able to get on with your job, you've got a supervisor tapping you on the shoulder every 15 minutes to ask did you do this that or the other so you lose your train of thought and things get missed.

Plus we're all only human and humans make mistakes. Smile

Many people want to do a good job, but they are not trained properly/overworked/underpaid etc. Human error is a thing as well. Careful wishing it away, some factories are currently mapping out their employees movements and finding ways of making their jobs more efficient which will involve using AI.

The receptionist I encountered at hospital the other day needs training in how not to appear pissed off at patients. Her manner was abrupt, dismissive and quite intimidating to vulnerable people. The direct opposite of a porter who came to help an elderly patient.

I agree. A lot of people seem to be disinterested and befuddled these days. We often visit coffee shops where the service might be acceptable, but the coffee is crap and the food stale and second rate. The people there don’t even appear to realise that folk are paying money for their crappy offerings and try to make things decent and edible. I’m not talking about greasy spoons here either.

We visited a reasonable looking cafe on holiday - in this country - and were ignored when we entered - it wasn’t that busy - and practically had the menus thrown at us once we were shown to a table and had sat down Confused

When you phone the utilities people up you can’t get sense nor reason out of them and they try to deliberately confuse you so you end up giving in and accepting a shit deal or tariff.

And some shops/companies ask for your personal details then sell them on to scam companies who call you and try to con you Hmm
