Title based on what a college professor used to tell us when the going got tough.

"Just remember when you're standing shoulder deep in horse shit, there's a pony in there somewhere. So just keep digging".

I have just listened to this. Measured commentary with lots of useful exp!anation:

[All In with Chris Hayes] Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort guilty on 8 counts each

Hello BeUpStanding.

Optimism good but so many variables still ...

Smile
ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 10:14

Interesting point brought out here, around 11 mins. in, that the 10 mistrial charges were the conspiracy to commit bank fraud involving Gates. How such does this undermine Gates' usefulness to Mueller?

Guilty: Paul Manafort Convicted In First Mueller Probe Trial | The Beat With Ari Melber | MSNBC

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 10:23

Daniel Dale does stalwart work on twitter for us who find the Oaf's shitspew intolerable, North, but even reading it is hard going.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 10:38

Yes, Gump, Paulie W. pressed hard for Pence. Hopefully, Pence will not slither under the radar for much longer, and you can bet Mueller's already smelt his 💩.

'CBS News reported that Pence was Manafort's "first choice" and that Manafort even lied about mechanical problems on Trump's plane to make the soon-to-be GOP nominee stay an extra day in Indiana to get to know Pence. In a phone call, Manafort assured Trump that Pence was the right choice and made a case that won over the real estate tycoon.'

I'm not so sure--depends which of his off-spring is under threat.

www.rawstory.com/2018/08/msnbc-pundit-thinks-trump-will-quit-the-presidency-before-he-sells-out-his-children/#.W3t3fFU3MbU.twitter

Lweji · 22/08/2018 11:33

I suspect he'd quit if he lost his businesses, not so much care about the children.

Do impeached presidents still get a life-time pension?

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 11:36

It is past 0630 hrs.in DC. Twitter is very quiet this morning. HmmWonder which Chanel he is watching and which ones he is TiVoing? Executive time may be extended today?

Lweji · 22/08/2018 11:37

Rachel Maddow had some good points about the importance of a possible second Manafort trial. From 7:00.

Would it be the case that turned him? Were charges filed or not? Any news
(also notice the happy faces at the start of the clip)

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 11:39

Oh ffs, channel

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 11:45

Thanks, Lweji, I've got Maddow lined up. There is so much to watch and read today. I'm on Avenatti on Cuomo 'Prime Time' at the moment, but Dersh. will be ranting soon, so I will move on.Smile

Gumpendorf · 22/08/2018 11:49

That Chanel is very revealing mimi Wink

MSNBC will not make comfortable viewing for The Oaf this morning. It's not comfortable viewing for this viewer - will Trump start an 'international incident' to deflect? Those who know him (ok Mika and Donny Deutsch) say it's very likely. ShockSad

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 11:52

It is ghoulishly amusing that the first two members of Congress to endorse the Oaf are both now under criminal indictmentGrin

Lweji · 22/08/2018 11:54

I hadn't listened to the full Maddow clip.

"I don't know if you can indict a President. I'm pretty sure you can indict a President's company..." 22:40ish

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 11:58

Well, Gump if the Missus has any revealing Chanel flimsies, she won't be modelling those for the old Oaf in the Lincoln BedroomGrin

Roussette · 22/08/2018 12:00

BeUpStanding...

Am I being too optimistic to think this might be the actual beginning of the end?

We live in hope. Twitter is on fire with it all!

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 12:06

I think, despite his lack of impulse control, the Oaf has more incentive to keep a 'wag the dog' effort in his back pocket to boost re-election chances.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 12:20

Oaf schedule today, lunch with Pompeo, followed by a Medal of Honour ceremony with pre-credentialed press.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 12:26

Lunch with Mattis not Pompeo, apols for my lousy spellingGrin

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 12:32

Oh, his Ma made one great big turkey alright:
Daniel Dale
@ddale8
Trump, demanding patience on tariffs, says members of Congress say, "'SIR, can you get this deal done immediately?'...It's gotta gestate. The word gestate...it's like when you're cooking a chicken...turkey, for Thanksgiving..."He says his mom "made the greatest turkey."

TheFrendo · 22/08/2018 12:33

Michael Cohen's attorney says Cohen has info about Trump for Mueller

(apologies if already posted)

Lweji · 22/08/2018 12:36

The word gestate...it's like when you're cooking a chicken...turkey, for Thanksgiving..."He says his mom "made the greatest turkey

Did he just call himself a turkey? Hmm

Roussette · 22/08/2018 12:38

'Gestate'! His wonderful mother carrying that turkey in her womb for all that time. God he's thick.

I do think he loves the medal giving ceremonies, the Rallies, the photo ops. I don't think he does much else. It's the behind the scenes complicit GOP that deserve derision for allowing this shit show.

Gumpendorf · 22/08/2018 13:14

“It’s a farrago and it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.”

Donald Trump’s former deputy assistant, Sebastian Gorka, shares his views on the cases of Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort, the President’s former lawyer and campaign manager.

@evanhd | @SebGorka | #newsnight https://twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/status/1032238553940598784/video/1

Sadly, and as another indication of their Fox/Breitbart conversion, the BBC interview Gorka to defend Trump. Angry

Gumpendorf · 22/08/2018 13:17

“We are aware of Mr. Cohen’s guilty plea to these serious charges. We will need more information than is currently available at this point," a spokesperson for Speaker Ryan told @NBCPolitics on Tuesday. on.msnbc.com/2w6qp62

twitter.com/MSNBC/status/1032238637541408768

What more information can he need?
