Title based on what a college professor used to tell us when the going got tough.

"Just remember when you're standing shoulder deep in horse shit, there's a pony in there somewhere. So just keep digging".

I saw something about why Trump might now WANT to be impeached.

Would a republican senate treat him more or less favourably than a democrat one?

Also worth bearing in mind how many Americans think trump is the victim of a conspiracy. And if hes seen to be the 'target of a witchhunt' counterintuitively that might help him.

Here through to November is gonna be rough.

yolofish · 21/08/2018 22:59

cozietoesie · 21/08/2018 23:03

It will be, Red. And spare a thought - also- for Mrs Moon. Sad

TheClaws · 21/08/2018 23:29

Whew.

cozietoesie · 21/08/2018 23:30

Caught up, Claws? Grin

TheClaws · 21/08/2018 23:46

I briefly headed over to Breitbart to see how they were taking the news. Lots of ‘whataboutism’ and ‘it doesn’t have anything to do with Trump’ comments there. The Hillary/Obama card is played frequently and when that doesn’t work, puerile insults are the last resort. Trumpreally does have them under his greasy spell.

TheClaws · 21/08/2018 23:49

Yep, cozie, still here and caught up!

TheFrendo · 22/08/2018 00:44

Giuliani is slagging Cohen's character.

Implies knowledge that Cohen has/will try to cut a deal with the investigators.

PerkingFaintly · 22/08/2018 00:45

Blimey, TheClaws, thanks for taking one for the team and dipping a toe in the slime pool that is Breitbart.

Ditto Across for subjecting yourself to the Orange One ranting on Fox.

GOP Congressman, Early Trump Backer Duncan Hunter Indicted
talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/gop-congressman-early-trump-backer-duncan-hunter-indicted

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and his wife have been indicted for misusing $250,000 in campaign funds and filing false campaign finance documents.
[...]
He and his wife Margaret, who also served as his campaign manager, are accused of routinely using campaign money to pay to fly his pet rabbit back and forth from his district, as well as for dental work, multiple vacations including one to Italy, and heavy spending at restaurants.
[...]
Hunter was the second House Republican to endorse President Trump, and this indictment means that Trump’s two earliest House backers have now been indicted following Rep. Chris Collins’ (R-NY) own, separate legal troubles.

Been thinking about it. The Cohen admission puts paid to any idea of Scrotus talking to Mueller, especially under oath. So far he's lied to reporters and the public about the payments (changing stories more than once), but that in and of itself is not a crime, just an indication of his character. BUT if he speaks to Mueller and lies (and he'd have to lie unless he wants to admit to a campaign violation) then he's guilty of the same crime that Bill Clinton was impeached for; lying to an official of the Govt. In Clinton's case it was the FBI, in Scrotus' case it would be the Mueller Team. Either way, it would be a crime.

And if memory serves me correctly, avoiding having to answer questions was a huge reason why Nixon resigned. If he hadn't resigned when he did, he knew good and well he'd end up before Congress or the Committee. He put it as 'for the good of the country', but it was really to save his own sorry ass.

So, we do have the answer to the old Watergate question "What did the President/Candidate know, and when did he know it?". Scrotus not only knew about the payoffs, he ordered them.

'Trump, mid-rally, goes off on a tangent on what a great turkey his mother made for Thanksgiving. Said it took eight hours to cook and was "the greatest turkey you'd ever have." Unclear why he is talking about his mother's turkey.'

SturdyEarmuffs · 22/08/2018 01:16

Bigly placemark.

AcrossthePond55 · 22/08/2018 01:21

I tried to watch the rally lion. I lasted about 15 seconds then I had to stop. His self-aggrandizement was more than I could stand.

15 seconds is a lot Across.

More than I can take even with the sound off.

Antidote here. Gin

AcrossthePond55 · 22/08/2018 02:37

Watching Cohen's attorney on Rachel. Sounds like he's not ruling out Cohen cooperating. "Mr Mueller will be very interested in what Mr Cohen has to say", "Mr Cohen wants to tell the truth about all he knows".

And it appears he just stated that Scrotus knew in advance about election hacking.
