AIBU to want to take pliers to the hard skin on my feet?!

I just want to rip off all the dead and hard skin.

They HURT. Constantly split and about an inch thick of dead skin on my heel.

Nothing gets rid of it :(

Flexitol is about the only thing that takes the edge off the dry skin

I just want to peel off my heels! 😆😆😆

Sounds like it's time to book in to see a chiropodist / podiatrist. Don't use any implements, not even home foot treatments if it's that bad. Let them take the skin back for you. They'll probably cut it off, but they'll do it properly, and your feet will be as sensitive as a baby's bum for a few days! 🤣

Thehop · 14/08/2018 22:03

Have you tried something like a callous peel in a salon?

If it’s realky too bad for that then please get yourself in with a podiatrist they’ll sort it out

nokidshere · 14/08/2018 22:05

You need a pedi-egg. Works a treat. Failing that, what about one of those skin peel kits that are about?

Mrsmadevans · 14/08/2018 22:16

OP you need to use a foot cream with a high urea content, 10 % if possible and you need to put it on every night for a couple of weeks then put a pr of socks on . Do this until it is much improved and then use it every so often to keep them soft.

SaoirseTheSeahorse · 14/08/2018 22:17

Chiropodist YY

Littlefish · 14/08/2018 22:19

Definitely see a chiropodist or podiatrist to sort this out. It sounds like it's gone past the stage of you being able to deal with it at home.

FeralBeryl · 14/08/2018 22:21

I second a proper chiropodist appointment. They take a scythe scalpel and hack it all away. It's breathtaking. I've sadly only ever needed it once Sad

ReservoirDogs · 14/08/2018 22:21

I have one of those Scholl battery operated roller type pedis. Love it.

LostInTheColonies · 14/08/2018 22:22

Mine are also terrible - I found a small piece of glass in one of mine a couple of weeks ago which had been in there for ages. Possibly TMI Grin. HOWEVER - I chanced across Neutrogena foot cream (which happened to be on clearance at the supermarket) and it is the ONLY thing that's done the trick. It's like magic potion. And it's less painful than pliers...

bellsbuss · 14/08/2018 22:24

Pedi eggs are fab, they will remove even the hardest skin. I do mine once a week then rub in cocoa butter foot balm to keep them soft

MummyMummy01 · 14/08/2018 22:25

Try putting vicks vapour rub on at night and then socks on. I know it’s got blocked noses but it works great

Growingboys · 14/08/2018 22:26

Podiatrist for sure. They take a Stanley knife to it and it's amazing. Best thing ever.

BigBlueBubble · 14/08/2018 22:28

After showering I use a metal foot file which has holes like a cheese grater. Then put loads of Vaseline on, followed by socks.

Maelstrop · 14/08/2018 22:28

Pliers? Fucking hell, OP!!

So either soak for 30 minutes in heavy Epsom salts solution then have a go, or have you heard of Footner? I read about it on here, no idea if it works, but saw some rave reviews.

I’d seriously book a chiropodist/podiatrist if it’s as bad as it sounds.

Politicalacuityisathing · 14/08/2018 22:29

Second the urea cream. CCS Swedish Formula heel balm with 25% urea. Does wonders for my very dry heels. No need to scrape or cut. Think you have to be careful with broken skin though

Prestonsflowers · 14/08/2018 22:30

Another vote here for a pedi egg, it’s brilliant

Nonotmenori · 14/08/2018 22:30

You need one of these

https://www.superdrug.com/Superdrug/Superdrug-Corn-and-Callus-Remover/p/791057?gclid=CjwKCAjw-8nbBRBnEiwAqWt1zWYzoaltElBwnqe1bchLIE4EpDsdH1y-TYhb6YR9St6WthvF6ObcBoCgj8QAvDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CO6Y5sG-7dwCFVutUQodiWMHzg

Just shave it off but don't go too deep as it'll hurt and bleed for a few days. Works wonders for hard feet

Happypuppy · 14/08/2018 22:31

I go to a podiatrist every 6 weeks, it’s really satisfying to have it all scraped off with a knife.

pollysproggle · 14/08/2018 22:33

Footner socks- £20 is Superdrug- best thing ever!

ExCharlieBucket · 14/08/2018 22:34

black and decker sander guys.

Whips all that shitty skin off in a jiffy

Chouetted · 14/08/2018 22:35

You definitely need a podiatrist. You can't do it on your own safely - they can.

condepetie · 14/08/2018 22:36

Pedegg or foot file, and Liberex Foot Peel. On amazon for a tenner. Works wonders. Use that and a file or pumice stone.

BeefyCakes · 14/08/2018 22:37

I've got a callous knife from boots, I cut the fuckers off, it's very satisfying but if you do buy one, don't get carried away and cut too deep as it'll be sore.

trinity0097 · 14/08/2018 22:38

Chiropodist! They will soon sort you out!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 14/08/2018 22:38

Nelsons chiropody foot sponge (it's called a sponge but it's more like a black sanding block you use in the shower with soap) followed by Dermatonics Once (25% urea). Both from amazon - less than twenty quid - use them for a week and you'll not regret it, can't say the same for sharp implements.
