I just want to rip off all the dead and hard skin.

They HURT. Constantly split and about an inch thick of dead skin on my heel.

Nothing gets rid of it :(

Flexitol is about the only thing that takes the edge off the dry skin

I just want to peel off my heels! 😆😆😆

I'm armed with footner, pumice stones and huge tube of flexitol.

I'm going to have baby feet in 2 weeks!

Oh and an initial trip to podiatrist to remove the thick skin, the cracks are so deep I can't walk

I bet the podiatrist will negate the need for most of what you've bought, but hopefully you'll have it for ongoing care! When do you see them? Those kinds of crack are agony.

The chiropodist appointment will make such a difference. You’ll be so glad to have done it. That’ll have much more effect than footner, pedi-eggs, or any cream can have.

FoodGloriousFud · 15/08/2018 13:07

Daft question but how do heels get cracked? I actually don't understand how it happens?

I tried footner and it was amazing and I don't even have dry feet. Make sure you soak your feet every night and don't pull the skin despite it being tempting!

How do people get hard skin and calloused feet

To much standing and walking in incorrect footwear, people not looking after their feet and taking them for granted

Vitalogy · 15/08/2018 14:10

This was posted on a MN Sporner Corner thread the other day. Now this is hard skin!

I took the plunge and went to a podiatrist last week. I'm heavily pregnant and I can't reach my feet, they were starting to crack and be so sore.

Cost me £30, took an hour and he literally shaved all the skin off. Didn't hurt in the least and now my feet feel fab. To maintain them (until I can reach to file them myself again) he said to avoid walking around barefoot all the time, and to moisturise twice a week overnight with two pairs of socks on. The first pair of socks should be damp apparently!

But yes my feet were very sensitive for two days afterwards.

Cauliflowersqueeze · 15/08/2018 14:13

Well I bought something off Amazon that looks like a cheese grater for feet. And I practically ripped my foot off. So don’t do that.

Go to a chiropodist and then maintain with creams!

YourHandInMyHand · 15/08/2018 14:43

You need one of these:

www.ebay.co.uk/p/Callus-Hard-Dead-Skin-Remover-Corn-Cutter-Shaver-Pedicure-Foot-Tool-10-Blades/22007004761?iid=391958361602&chn=ps

But be VERY careful and don't take too much off at once. I use this and then pop flexitol heel balm all over feet and put socks on overnight.

If you can afford it definitely treat yourself to a trip to the chiropodist and get them to do. I bought the corn remover as I didn't have any spare money in my already tight budget for chiropody treatment.

Everyoneiswingingit · 15/08/2018 14:47

I shave mine! Soak your feet then use a normal razor for your legs etc and gently shave over the hard skins repeatedly by layer. Go carefully as you get the bulk off. Since I've been walking lots my hard skin builds up quite quickly.

Everyoneiswingingit · 15/08/2018 14:48

I also am barefoot most of the summer and wear flat sandals.

IJustHadToNameChange · 15/08/2018 14:50

Chiropodist.

They've got scalpels. And Dremel sanders.

I go every eight weeks.....😳

LadyPenelope68 · 15/08/2018 14:53

Mine were just like that, they were terrible, to the point I was too embarrassed to see a Podiatrist. Then I read about Epsom Salts - works wonders. Hot soak your feet in Epsom Salts for half an hour, straight in the shower and scrub the dead skin with a nail brush and soap, then dry well and apply Scholl cracked heel cream. Repeat every night. After two weeks my feet were amazing, haven’t looked like that for about 10 years!

littlestrawby · 15/08/2018 14:56

my husband chops his off with scissors and leaves the chunks of skin lying around...puke

@imsoboredwithitall

I had this recently - turned out it was actually a form of dry athletes foot (not the more common wet type you get between toes) caused by sandal wearing in all this hot weather.

Get some athletes foot cream - a few days of that and my feet are restored. The Flexitol and other Urea creams did nothing. It is worth a try.
