I work in a small office that is open 24/7, similar to a call centre. The owner of this company is a lunatic. Some of things he likes to do include:
-shouting at the top of his lungs at members of staff while they’re taking a call
-tells staff that they cannot have time off that has been previously authorised by the manager
-threatens to close the business down at least once a week in front of staff
-tells staff that they cannot talk to each other at all at work.
He does a lot more, but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
He has now decided to set up cameras in the office, which will then be linked to his phone. This way he can watch the staff in the office constantly. He really is a crazy man, so he will be watching a live feed ALL OF THE TIME. Apparently this cctv will also include audio, which I have heard is illegal?
Any advice on how to deal with this? I do not want to be watched constantly while I am at work by a man who will go insane if you go for a wee more than once in 10 hours! It feels like a huge invasion of privacy and I’m really not comfortable with the idea.
This is a small business, no HR, so no one can go above his head to complain. He is the owner. Any help?! I’m considering quitting over this.
