No Birthday present from DW

So it was my birthday on July 29th. We have two DDs I got a card from them and the wife. My side of the family came round did normal birthday greetings and gave me cards and presents. Still nothing from the wife.

So the day ends and no present from wife or kids in sight. So just leave it although was a little miffed. So fast forward to today August 14th and wife comes in a drops a Poundland back in my lap and says happy birthday. I was a little shocked as like it was nearly two weeks ago. So I said thanks and opened the back. She walked out the Room didn't even stay to see me look what they was. So in the bag was a box of cereal bars a bag of crisps and some shortbread.

AIBU to feel a little pissed off?

Do you really think that's disaster averted?? I don't do much for birthdays as money is usually tight but I will make favourite meals, cake, have a bottle of wine etc.

Her excuse of not knowing what you want is bullcrap.... You can still make a bit of a fuss without a big expensive present and meal out....

Spidey senses are telling me something is not quite right....

HolyPieter · 15/08/2018 13:13

Are you cheating, OP?

Is it possible that your poor wife is on to you?

Uzicorn · 15/08/2018 13:32

HolyPieter

I've reported you. You don't get to bully posters simply because they're male. OP has something wrong.

Uzicorn · 15/08/2018 13:33

*OP has done nothing wrong

HolyPieter · 15/08/2018 13:58

I see the MRAs are out in full force this afternoon.

Uzicorn · 15/08/2018 14:03

That's a new one, usually I'm accused of being too feminist on MN.

HollowTalk · 15/08/2018 14:09

What the fuck is HolyPieter banging on about?

LittleMe03 · 15/08/2018 14:21

I think @HolyPieter is OP's wife Shock

Oly5 · 15/08/2018 14:26

Yanbu, I’d also be pissed off. Birthdays are special.
I can’t believe the comments on this thread with people saying you must have done something. If a woman had posted, people would be up in arms

You're being so nasty, I wonder if you're projecting here.

FWIW, could be the DW is cheating, or has at least checked out the relationship. There are many ways to make a birthday nice without having to wait for an idea of a present, eg a favourite meal, a nice cake, watch a movie together. If OP's DW has previously celebrated OP's birthdays on time, then this doesn't seem quite right.

TrudeauGirl · 15/08/2018 14:50

I suggest you grow up and be fucking grateful that your wife (who you are daring to badmouth on a large internet forum) is still with you

Would you say that if the genders were reversed? I don't think so. The double standards on here today are awful.

Sorry you're getting a hard time from some posters because you're a man OP.

Mammalamb · 15/08/2018 15:03

Is OP a man??? I actually thought OP was a woman?

Perhaps HolyPieters is the OPs wife

PsychoPumpkin · 15/08/2018 15:09

Holypieter does this on so many threads. If you defend a man for any reason you will be called an MRA

Uzicorn · 15/08/2018 15:11

Mammalamb - I thought OP was a man because of the comment about not liking the pink shirt they got for a previous birthday.

It's possible OP is a woman I guess.

MonaLisaSimpson · 15/08/2018 15:22

Whether OP is male or female HolyPieter has made one hell of a leap!

YeahDefinitelyNameChanging · 15/08/2018 19:31

Gosh this took a turn.

“MRAs” GrinHmm

Cismyass · 15/08/2018 20:24

Well it's a race to the bottom OP so you know what to do. Sellotape a tuppence coin into a card and voila! Her Christmas is sorted Grin

secre · 15/08/2018 20:29

Maybe she didn't get you a present because you call her "the wife".
