Hi,

I was down a rabbit hole on YouTube after reading the Furore after Boris Johnsons remarks on Islamic dress, i came across this excerpt from a documentary (Channel 4 I think)

They were openly preaching hate against other religion. Im all for tolerance but what exactly is going on here ?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 13/08/2018 18:06

This reminds me of the Who is Alan Brazil thread...

HopefullyAnonymous · 13/08/2018 18:29

What angle are you trying to get, OP? So we know how to oblige Smile

Sparklesocks · 13/08/2018 18:34

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 13/08/2018 18:35

OP who is Alan Brazil only you forgot to.tell us in your last thread you just copied and pasted the editors instructions

sacredgeometry · 13/08/2018 18:36

I was shocked at the children being beaten / kicked and I was really angry at the way the Teacher Mocked Hinduism by saying they drink cow urine. These Schools also seemingly had good inspection reports.

This isn't a lazy journalism piece at all. Im genuinely shocked at it. I suppose its alright as long as it isn't your DC being kicked in class.

vodkaredbullgirl · 13/08/2018 18:45

hmm

MyDirtyLittleSecret · 13/08/2018 18:47

I'm outraged, etc.

Is that what you were looking for OP?

OlennasWimple · 13/08/2018 18:48

I'm outraged too, maybe even fumming

Fortunately the powers that be agreed with me seven years ago and took regulatory action against the school

Phew!

Saucery · 13/08/2018 18:51

Is digging up old YouTube videos and attempting to whip up a racist furore something you always wanted to do when you were little?

sacredgeometry · 13/08/2018 18:56

None of that was my intention. Im sorry i didn't realise we aren't allowed to talk about stuff like this on mumsnet. Admin please delete this thread.

Why aren't you also pointing out that there are (private) schools in the UK which do not teach a full curriculum and instead promoting an extremist Christian world view? And why aren't you mentioning extremist Jewish faith schools in London, where anything outside the very basics of maths and English are not taught, and where references to evolution have been redacted from GCSE textbooks?

I mean, it's all very well being against religious extremes in education - that is just common sense. Just picking out one particular faith makes your post look - well, a bit one-sided.

Sweetsongbird1 · 13/08/2018 19:02

To be honest Im not shocked . Similar happened to my family members of mine in a catholic school in Ireland. The nuns could be savage and cruel.

I think that’s the danger of private faith school as you can’t really police what’s happening in them till it’s too late.

TheFaerieQueene · 13/08/2018 19:06

What were you searching to come up with that link,OP?

sacredgeometry · 13/08/2018 19:07

Pointy

Because I'm not aware of those schools. I don't mind faith schools as an idea. I very much dislike what I saw in this example.

A friend of mine was bought up orthodox jew (he is now an atheist) He had to go to Israel for 2 years and study at age 14.

He did say that his education was 60% religion. He has managed to gain 2 degrees and is one of the most intelligent people I know so they cant be all that bad.

He has said he would have preferred a more balanced education in retrospect.

Sacred - you can talk about pretty much anything on MN. But if you're going to be outraged at something, it's much better if you acknowledge how dated your source is. Otherwise you just look kinda goady

FaeryQueen,

I was watching a debate with Douglas Murray and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown on the Burqua. It came up as one of the next videos
