We’re are the calls for Corbyn and the rest of the any semites to step down

The silence speaks for it self

But what has jc said/done that is so Anti-Semitic? I've only heard him speaking out about the treatment of Palestinian people?

Do I believe Jeremy Corbyn is himself an anti-Semite? No

Do I think he's demonstrated a systematic unwillingness to acknowledge or deal with the anti semitic behaviour that's sadly been growing within the party? Yes. Corbyn and the NEC have been very happy to look the other way until public pressure meant they couldn't keep ignoring it.

He can't be held accountable for bigoted nutters in his party making blatantly antisemitic comments. But his willingness to look the other way, and intransigence in dealing with these individuals, has been stark

For example (broader list at the end of the post, source link has links to all the individual examples)

"A Labour council candidate in Peterborough, Alan Bull, shared anti-Semitic material online which claimed that the Holocaust was a ‘hoax’. The Labour party was made aware of the posts in 2017, but only suspended the candidate when contacted by the Jewish Chronicle in March 2018."

"Jackie Walker, formerly vice-chair of Momentum, said Jews were the ‘chief financiers of the sugar and slave trade’, criticised security for Jewish schools, and said Holocaust Memorial Day was not ‘inclusive’ enough. After the comments were made and widely condemned, Corbyn shared a platform and campaigned alongside Walker"

"Serious concerns have been raised over Labour's shortlisting of a councillor who has been accused of making anti-Semitic comments

"The Party was plunged into a fresh anti-Semitism row after it emerged that Nasreen Khan claimed that Jews “have reaped the rewards of playing victims” and that there are “worse people than Hitler in this world”.

Writing under a video titled “The Palestine you need to know”, she said: “It’s such a shame that the history teachers in our school never taught us this but they are the first to start brainwashing us and our children into thinking the bad guy was Hitler. What have the Jews done good in this world?”

When she faced further online criticism she said: “Stop beating a dead horse. The Jews have reaped the rewards of playing victims. Enough is enough!”

A Labour Party spokesperson said: “We do not comment on internal selection matters"

No comment at all?

"The former mayor of Blackburn Salim Mulla - who currently sits as a Labour councillor in the town - has been suspended by the party over anti-Semitic comments made on Twitter and Facebook

Mulla posted a series of offensive comments and photographs suggesting Israel was behind the Sandy Hook massacre and ISIS.
He also said that 'Zionist Jews' were 'a disgrace to humanity'."

He was suspended from the party - but then subsequently reinstated.

This isn't Israeli politics. This is pretty clear cut antisemitism.

Corbyn’s stated and beautifully expressed desire to stamp out anti-Semitism has been articulated many times in letters and newspaper articles. But that's not the same as actually taking serious and meaningful action.

https://www.standard.co.uk/comment/comment/sadly-we-still-cannot-trust-jeremy-corbyn-over-antisemitism-a3823241.html

"Corbyn wrote in yesterday’s Evening Standard that “anti-Semitism is a poison that must be challenged wherever it raises its head”.

"We asked that Labour put in a fixed timetable to deal with anti-Semitism cases; Corbyn and his team said that would not be possible.

We asked that they should expedite the long-standing cases involving serial offenders Ken Livingstone and Jackie Walker; Corbyn made only vague commitments.

We asked that no MP should share a platform with somebody expelled or suspended for anti-Semitism; Corbyn said he could not give us that guarantee.

We asked that there be transparent oversight of Labour’s disciplinary process. Corbyn was not forthcoming."

Clearly this is only one side of the story. But certainly at the time, it didn't suggest an active commitment to turn words into actions.

I am a British Jew and don't consider criticism of Israel as antisemitic. I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with criticism of Israel, I'm a British Jew who is horrified by the actions of the state of Israel. It's abhorrent.

However according to Labour's own definition of anti semitism, this omits "comparing Israeli polices to those of the Nazis." as being antisemitic.

I think the Israeli policies and actions are horrific and absolutely should be criticised.

But comparison of Israel to Nazis being deemed as totally OK and not anti semitic doesn't sit well with me

For example, the attached wouldn't be deemed as anti semitic. Which doesn't seem like legitimate criticism of the actions of the state of Israel

Lots more examples here. There's various links for each individual example and allegation here (yes it's the spectator but it links out to multiple sources, if you believe every single one is an anti Corbyn conspiracy then not much I can do to persuade you otherwise)

Corbyn is a nasty little man hiding behind a softly spoken voice. As a labour supporter I now have no one to vote for . Would love to see the party split and a new group set up .Its the only way forward.

Jonathan Freedland recently put forward an interesting analogy, he said imagine the police, post Stephen Lawrence and the charge of institutional racism, had been given guidelines from the leaders of the black community. Then imagine the police rejected these, instead a mostly white group of police officials, without consultation, drew up its own anti-racism guidelines. Imagine these officials then said to the black community 'here are the guidelines we're following', and when that community complained that these did not address their concerns, those police officials responded how dare you complain, you should be grateful.

He used a similar analogy in this Guardian article:

"It’s as if Labour unilaterally decided to rewrite a widely accepted set of guidelines on sexual harassment, in defiance of opposition from every women’s organisation and without consulting them, and delegating the task to a majority male sub-committee, and then expected women to applaud the new document."

Metoodear · 14/08/2018 07:50

And as for him being the opposition leader what opposition does he put up

He doesn’t he is utterly useless Labour have wasted three years at a time when the country needed more than ever a strong opposition and a a party leader that would deal with the anit semitism that has always been associated with the far left who now have power over the party
totally agree with this I am a Tory but am shocked at the little to no opposition he has put up to have strong government you need strong opposition how is it that TM is so week but still in a strong position on the polls instead of addressing the issues of the day he talks about fringe issues poses with rappers and young people who don’t even vote for him if they did he would be in power now

He is a trump light his followers see him as god like no matter how incompetent how lacking in political ability they still shout

Oooooooo Jeremy Corbyn Confused

Because he’s spent the last 20 plus years on the back bench’s at rally’s their are literally hundreds of pictures to be ineathered with him poseing with nut jobs
Remember when John mc Donald lied about being at a communist meeting then the picture of him emerged with him their Hmm

No one is under any illusions TM is good but she is fucking better than the Jc and that shows hav truly shit he is

(Before I'm accused of being a Tory, I am a Labour voter and I want Jeremy Corbyn to be a fantastic leader of the opposition to hold TM and the shitshower of a Tory government to account. I don't want this to be the defining issue of the Labour party. I'm simply responding to the questions of why it's perceived by many that his actions have at least appeared to have condoned anti semitism.)

Photoshopped, fake news Grin

These stories have been around for years many of us have been aware and have been saying over and over again he isn’t for to lead the Labour Party. The stories are being used again to hold up the evidence that Corbyn looks the other way and that he has no interest in dealing with anti semitism

You’ve got Esther McVey fucking up UC, the NHS being sold off piecemeal, Tories dressing up as Nazis at parties, May demonstrating daily that she can’t run a piss-up in a brewery, and this is what you think is important? Bloody hell.

Well said, Kitty

@SchadenfreudePersonified

I think it's very important. The fact that you don't demonstrates how fucked up your viewpoint is and why Corbyn hasn't yet been kicked to the curb.

The support of terrorists should be a resigning matter.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/08/2018 08:48

It’s selective outrage for political gain and to take the heat off the disastrous Tories.

The prime minister of the country which had its athletes murdered has every right to criticise anyone honouring the killers (whatever you think of Netenyahu).

As a politician if you are genuinely interested in peace and justice you have to meet with both sides of a conflict. Has Jeremy Corbyn ever met with any Israeli representatives? There’s a strong socialist opposition to Netanyahu. Why can’t he engage with them? Or Arab Israelis? Or set up a meeting between Labour friends of Israel and Labour friends of Palestine as a starting point. He’s only ever taken one side.

By his actions (not words), I believe Corbyn to be deeply anti Semitic because he fully supports those who want to destroy Israel and kill all Jewish people there. He refuses to adopt the full definition of anti Semitism. He could have dealt with this problem years ago by adopting the full definition and expelling Ken Livingston. He is a terrible leader for Labour and I hope he doesn’t destroy the party completely.

SillySallySingsSongs · 14/08/2018 08:51

^ this. To many of us, thus isn't new. We tried saying it for years.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/08/2018 08:51

Selling arms to states with appalling human rights records and islamaphobia should be resigning matters.

KittyHawke80 · 14/08/2018 08:52

Metoodear is sounding increasing deranged, so is hardly in a position to ‘call out’ anyone.

roundaboutthetown · 14/08/2018 08:54

I don't like Jeremy Corbyn. I loathe Boris Johnson. I actually feel sorry for Theresa May, even though I don't like her, either, because at least she is attempting to do something, which is more than can be said of anyone else. I am bored as hell with our media - it has lost all credibility. I am bored with Tory v Labour. Nobody seems to have a clue about anything. Brexit is a mess because half the country didn't want it and the other half were never in any agreement over what they meant by it, meaning there was always a 100% guarantee that virtually everyone would think a mess was made of it, whatever form of Brexit happened. What a fucking bunch of twats for ever asking such a stupid question at a time when there was already huge discontent and growing division, and then not being able to cope with the answer. And now boring the hell out of everyone with old news.

SillySallySingsSongs · 14/08/2018 08:54

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/08/2018 08:54

The Tory damage limitation specialists are wasted here and should apply for jobs at the telegraph or mail.
