AIBU or are posts deleted on a whim without any sense or explanation?

Seems that as soon as someone complains about a post, no matter what the content, MN just deletes the post,the most appalling censorship I have ever seen. How can you have a grown-up debate/conversation if posts are deleted willy-nilly?

I often find I go back to a thread that I was enjoying only to find is deleted. It does seem to happen a lot and the explanations are generally vague

I’m guessing you’ve had a post deleted that you don’t think should have been.

I think you should be able to delete your own post if you want, for any reason. Instead of reporting it, pisses me off!

It discourages robust debate, especially if someone is getting a well deserved roasting
