So I have been out with my friends and met her new boyfriend. He got a bit tipsy and kept saying my friend was the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.
My other friend asked her oh , he replied well I don’t want anyone else but no you are not.

Well this has caused a major rumpus aibu to a bit 🙄.

Your mate is daft for being so huffy, honestly what a fuss.

LuluJakey1 · 10/08/2018 21:56

I have just read this to DH to ask him to make sense of it. His response was 'And before you ask, yes absolutely' and went back to watching The Descent. Grin

DiegoMadonna · 10/08/2018 22:02

Believe it or not we are all 30 something teachers

I shall choose not to believe it. I don't want to imagine my children being taught by people who behave like 14-year-olds.

Laiste · 10/08/2018 22:04

Oh god love DH Grin I just asked him if i was TMBWHES and he thought hard and then said yes.

I love DH !

GunpowderGelatine · 10/08/2018 22:05

I'm 99% sure I'm not the most beautiful woman DH has ever seen. And quite frankly, the feeling is mutual (I saw Idris Elba in London once 😍 so DH was bumped down the list a bit after that).

Moral of the story: don't ask a question if you don't want a different answer than you expect

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 10/08/2018 22:06

I did understand perfectly (maybe cause I’m on prosecco). Oh dear, well... he was honest Bear

cookiesandchocolate · 10/08/2018 22:06

I would be upset if my OH replies no. But I would t ask, however if I did ask, the sure answer should be; yes, of course!
What did he expect when he replied no 🤦🏻‍♀️

Dopplerineffect · 10/08/2018 22:07

Yes oh I thought my op made sense for my opGrin

It’s unlikely any if us is the most beautiful woman whatever bloke saw - there is always someone prettier. I wouldn’t be asking stupid question though Grin

Fevs · 10/08/2018 22:09

@Dopplerineffect
Your op is tooooo funny 😂

GunpowderGelatine · 10/08/2018 22:09

I don't want to imagine my children being taught by people who behave like 14-year-olds

Yes OP, ALL teachers should be like Miss Honey from Matilda, never drink, never be insecure and NEVER argue with their husbands - I mean, you're teaching precious precious children, won't someone think of the children!!!!!

GorgonLondon · 10/08/2018 22:09

If my husband said he thought I was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen I would call him a fucking liar. There is more to life...

GorgonLondon · 10/08/2018 22:10

Just RTFT. I can't actually believe that some of you (a) asked your partners and (b) believed their answers! Do you also think you're the tallest, richest, and fastest-running women they've ever seen? GrinGrinGrin

JaretsGirlfren · 10/08/2018 22:11

My DP tells me I’m ‘prettier than Natalie Portman’ it’s become a thing, there’s even a special voice why the fuck am I telling you all this?

MsBagelLady · 10/08/2018 22:11

@ENormaSnob I happen to the best after wine dancer, thenks

Laiste · 10/08/2018 22:12

GorgonLondon but that's what makes it funny. The lovely white lie or the noble truth ... which one will they come out with? Grin

Bluntness100 · 10/08/2018 22:12

Well I asked,

This is how it went

Me, Am I the most beautiful woman you've ever seen?
Him, well one of them, you're well up there.

Then went back to watching kinsman grinning without even asking why I asked, twat, 🤣

GorgonLondon · 10/08/2018 22:14

@Laiste Honestly, I'd think he was a sarcastic twat if he said "yes". I mean... I'm not blind. And nor is he

GorgonLondon · 10/08/2018 22:15

Question for those of you who love your husbands/partners for saying yes - why?

ScreamingValenta · 10/08/2018 22:15

I asked Grin.

Me: Who's the most beautiful woman you've ever seen?
DH: Is that something from Mumsnet?
Me: Inspired by Mumsnet, yes.
DH: Do you mean in real life, or in films and TV?
Me: Both
DH: Apart from you, you mean?
Me: No, including me.
DH: Ummm .... Meg Ryan.

Grin
NoelHeadbands · 10/08/2018 22:16

I'm not asking.

Years ago, Girls Aloud were on the telly and I said to DH, 'you wish I was one of those Girls Aloud'

His reply was, 'And?'

thenightsky · 10/08/2018 22:19

I thought this was going to be a thread asking us who we thought was the most beautiful woman we'd ever seen.

I was going to say Princess Diana. Blush

diddl · 10/08/2018 22:19

"What did he expect when he replied no"

That she's an adult who realises that she probably isn't & is OK with the truth?

I'mShock that grown women would be upset by being told no!

Laiste · 10/08/2018 22:20

I love him for saying yes because he thought hard about what to say. That means he wanted to try and say the right thing. That means he cares.

It's no biggy though. I'd have loved him either way. He by the way actually IS beautiful :)

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/08/2018 22:23

I too understood the OP (on the second reading Grin )- I guess this is why you shouldn't fish for compliments really- I bet your friend regrets asking that!
I think I'm ok but I'd not believe it if my DP said this, it's obviously rubbish isn't it. I'd rather he just said he loves me.
That said, my first boyfriend called me the 'most beautiful girl in the world' v earnestly all the time. Met him years after, got on swimmingly with his new girfriend, added her on social media and the first status I saw was " When 'x' tells me I'm the most beautiful girl in the world it makes me so happy" - illusion shattered, and it made him seem so pathetic it just makes me shudder at now Hmm
