I will start by telling you mine but not saying I'm perfect either! Yesterday while driving to Aldi (a short distance away) I met a cyclist who was cycling towards me on the wrong side of the road! Next a car in front of me braked suddenly and turned right without indicating and then to top it all off the car park was almost full when I got there with not 1 but 2 small cars parked so badly that both used 2 spaces each! I managed to park in the end thankfully so tell me what your driving/parking pet hates are....

Tailgaters

People who don't indicate

(Possibly controversial and not strictly drivers...) cyclists on narrow country lanes. You either gave to stick behind them at their pace (annoying if you live in such a plan e and expected your journey to take 10 mins but will take 3 times as long at cycle pace) or do a scary overtake.

unadventuretime · 10/08/2018 14:38

such a place*

unadventuretime · 10/08/2018 14:40

And people who don't pay at the pump Grin

unadventuretime · 10/08/2018 14:44

In on street parking areas, where people park leaving big gaps between their car and the next car/dropped kerb but the gap is not quite big enough to fit another car in.

And YY to this one too.

lilyheather1 · 10/08/2018 14:47

People who join a motorway or dual carriageway at an idiotically slow speed, and for some reason don't seem to realise that the traffic they will be encountering is going to be going MUCH quicker than them. Ugh, really grinds my gears!

Belindabauer · 10/08/2018 14:47

People who cannot park and park their great big fat cats over the parking bay lines when it's busy.
Drivers in the wrong lane at round abouts who then cause mayhem.
Drivers who park across someone's drive.

GlassSuppers · 10/08/2018 14:50

I work from my car and see a lot of bad driving!

My biggest ever pet hate is people with ridiculously low cars who go over speed bumps at 5mph. Why lower it so low that you can't even drive it properly Angry

Also get very angry with people who drive under the speed limit!

Flyme21 · 10/08/2018 14:53

You can't pay cash at the pump, so why get upset at people who have to go into the shop?

Some cars are low because of their vintage GlassSuppers.

GlassSuppers · 10/08/2018 14:55

Also, people that pull out of junctions and cut you up and then drive slowly.
Can't be in that much of a rush if you're only doing 25mph, they could wait!

GlassSuppers · 10/08/2018 14:56

Fly I'm talking about boy racers in their Corsa or something that they've had adapted. I don't see the point in that!

katmunchkin · 10/08/2018 15:00

People who park wherever they like but because they put their hazard lights on, they think it's ok. Bends, double yellows, bus stops, anywhere!

MargaretDribble · 10/08/2018 15:05

People who don't like you doing the speed limit. Twice while visiting DM I was honked and gestured at for doing 30 in a 30 and 40 in a 40. I had the speed limiter on. I was a bit Confused as where I live people don't seem to mind if you stick to the limit.
People who sit in the middle lane on the M1 chugging along at 60 when the inside lane is empty.
People who don't indicate.

unadventuretime · 10/08/2018 15:06

I know I'm unreasonable about people not paying at the pump. But it makes me impatient. Luckily there are some Pay at pump only petrol stations near me Grin

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 10/08/2018 15:11

Also get very angry with people who drive under the speed limit!

These kind of comments are genuinely starting to worry me..do people really not understand the the speed limit isn't an instruction to maintain that speed no matter what? That its dependent on conditions and that sometimes driving bang on the speed limit is appropriate...and sometimes its not?
A PP mentioned national speed limit country lanes, and there's lots near me. I can do 60 on them, and on some of them that's fine, but when its narrow bendy lanes with horses and tractors, its NOT! Everyone in my semi rural area insists on driving as fast as possible everywhere but its not always a good idea!

PoppyPlum · 10/08/2018 15:16

I have two:

  • People who get in the turning lane because there is no queue, then suddenly realise (Hmm) that they're going straight on and expect the queuing traffic to let them in.
  • This is a bit niche but taxi drivers who use the traffic light as a taxi rank, don't drive when it's green because they're effectively queuing for the two taxi spots across the road.

I expect this almost makes me recognisable!!

People who don't move over properly into dedicated hatched markings/boxes when turning right so that traffic going ahead gets held up -no need!

People that miss green lights because they're clearly fannying about on their phones, especially when its lights that are only green for about two or three cars and take ages to change Angry

Trialsmum · 10/08/2018 16:39

Lycra clad cyclists riding 2/3 abreast so you can’t get past, cycling slowing up a hill and not even thinking of pulling over.

Tractors who also drove along for miles and miles without letting people past.

People who drive on the left hand lane all the way around a roundabout.

Basically slow people who don’t consider others.

rightknockered · 10/08/2018 17:01

People who drive in front of me at 20mph when there is a 40 limit, and leave me no room to overtake.
People who seem to hog two lanes by driving in the middle,
People who take up two lanes at traffic lights, especially the one to turn right. Pisses me off endlessly
People who seem to think they have right of way at a junction turning into a major road from a minor road, and just move towards you expecting your to come to a standstill. Fuckers.
People who stop suddenly to let pedestrians cross, and it isn't a zebra crossing, just randomly stopping. Fffs.

rightknockered · 10/08/2018 17:05

And my biggest bug bear, people who park in disabled parking spaces. Fucking bastards. Should be towed

Amanduh · 10/08/2018 17:08

Yes to people who don’t indicate! Even at roundabouts 🤷🏼‍♀️ Today a bloke beeped his horn at me after getting right up my backside because I was doing about 35 in the village. Speed limit 30. Fuck off.

MereDintofPandiculation · 10/08/2018 17:15

People who seem to think they have right of way at a junction turning into a major road from a minor road, and just move towards you expecting your to come to a standstill. Fuckers.

Do you mean people attempting to join a major road with continuous traffic who know that unless they make definite moves towards moving out they will be lucky to get out until the rush hour eases in two hours time?

People who stop suddenly to let pedestrians cross, and it isn't a zebra crossing, just randomly stopping. I'd stop if safe if said pedestrians are already in the centre of the road. Traffic is held up a lot more if someone prangs one of them.

Bluelady · 10/08/2018 17:23

People who overtake and pull into the safe gap you've left between you and the car in front so you have to slow down so you drop back again.

tobee · 10/08/2018 17:35

People who don't know how to use roundabouts, especially mini roundabouts, and just bowling towards you like the roundabout doesn't exist. Angry
