I will start by telling you mine but not saying I'm perfect either! Yesterday while driving to Aldi (a short distance away) I met a cyclist who was cycling towards me on the wrong side of the road! Next a car in front of me braked suddenly and turned right without indicating and then to top it all off the car park was almost full when I got there with not 1 but 2 small cars parked so badly that both used 2 spaces each! I managed to park in the end thankfully so tell me what your driving/parking pet hates are....

Tailgaters. And I also drive a "Nanamobile" (love that phrase!) and agree that it seems to make some people act like absolute twats, trying to intimidate you by aggressive driving. Hmm

But it's the nervous or oblivious drivers that scare me the most. There's a road near me with Victorian terraces either side so no off road parking. The cars parked either side and the fact that it's narrow means it's a one way street so there's not masses of room either side but it's not that bad. I was following someone down it and they must have been doing about 10mph the whole way, then turned right out of it when there's a "no right turns" sign. Just seemed completely clueless about the size of their car and basic rules of the road!

PrincessAriel · 10/08/2018 13:30

Dont do 15 in a 20.
Dont do 25 in a 30.
Dont do 30 in a 40.
And for gods sake don’t pull the 50 in the motorway trick on me I will lose my patience big time.
Dont sit in the middle or outside lane if there is sod all to over take.
Read signs, get in lane.
Use your indicators.

FluffingtonPost · 10/08/2018 13:31

There are soooo many, but my top two at the moment are:

-Not paying attention to road markings on roundabouts...we have loads where I live and funnily enough, they’re not all the bloody same in terms of lane use, and that’s why they paintnit in the fucking road! Sorry...it really boils my piss!

-Maintaining a speed of around 40-45 mph for the duration of a 60 mph road, but failing to adjust speed and slow down for 30mph villages along said road. And I come across this one a lot!! What is wrong with people??

Toomuchgoingon · 10/08/2018 13:34

The one that drives me insane are the smokers who think it's fine to throw their ash and then cigarette stubs out the window.... Even more so whilst it's so dry - so easy to cause a fire..... If you don't like the rubbish that's left, don't smoke it in the first place.

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 10/08/2018 13:34

I'm not too sure about the driving "too slow" ones. Most streets round me are 30 limit BUT are narrow and heavily parked +lots of kids put and about. So actually doing 30 would be potentially dangerous.
Having said that my mum drives everywhere at 25 mph...even on totally clear 40 mph roads and it irritates the Hell of me!

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 10/08/2018 13:36

Dont do 25 in a 30.
You do understand that 30 is a LIMIT don't you??
Nowhat I'm beginning to get what's wrong with the roads..!

Porcelaincup · 10/08/2018 13:37

People who deliberately/selfishly strand me on a yellow box junction.

Slow moving traffic, usually two or three lanes. I wait on my side of the box waiting for my lane to be clear on the other side. Traffic moves, my exit is clear and I move forward over the box. Only for some aggressive twit to under or overtake into my exit, leaving me stuck in the box.

YorkieDorkie · 10/08/2018 13:42

Tailgaters and the annoying folk who drive 40mph EVERYWHERE happily sailing through a 30 limit at the same speed despite holding everyone up on the 60 roads.

That's rage inducing!

5foot5 · 10/08/2018 13:47

Can I also add people who use their horn inappropriately. It should only be used to warn of danger. It's not for:

  • letting someone know how angry you are that they cut you up;
  • attracting the attention of your mate who you have just seen on the pavement so you can wave and grin at them;
  • letting the person you have come to pick up know you are there because you can't be bothered to get out of the car and knock on the door;

I think this is particularly annoying if you are a pedestrian. Sometimes if you are walking along minding your own business and a horn blasts out right behind you it really makes you jump out of your skin!

MrsSnootyPants2018 · 10/08/2018 13:52

I have a list!!

  • people who drive at 50 mph on the motorway
  • those who can't use and indicator
  • this who park across two spaces on purpose to avoid scratches.
  • people who pull up at the only pay at pump section and don't use the pay at pump
  • people driving along with young children who aren't strapped in.
  • people who stop every car out
Flyme21 · 10/08/2018 13:54

People who go too fast on country lanes. Yes, it may be national speed limit but you still can't see round that bend and there could be a tractor, or a horse rider a few yards ahead of you.
People who accelerate inside you when you pull out into the next lane to legally and properly overtake them. Then when you shrug and pull back in... they slow back down.
People who don't understand the correct way to overtake on motorways. In that it should be planned ahead and take place before you get to the vehicle in front. Not be a quick dive out at the last minute, normally in front of a car already in the lane you're heading for.
General ignorance of how to drive correctly on motorways in general is a big one for me. As demonstrated regularly on here. So dangerous.

Mayvis · 10/08/2018 13:55

In on street parking areas, where people park leaving big gaps between their car and the next car/dropped kerb but the gap is not quite big enough to fit another car in.

We have a lady with a mini here who always does this, taking two spaces up with her tiny car.

Flyme21 · 10/08/2018 13:55

Pay at pump section - doesn't everyone just pull up at the first pump that becomes free? Why should someone hang back just because they want to pay at the till? In a lot of garages there isn't even room to do that, you need to move forward when there's a gap.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 10/08/2018 13:57

Tailgating. I just slow down until they eventually get the message.

People who decide to leave the motorway from the fast lane at the last minute and cross lanes with no indication,

People who speed in residential roads.

Cyclists who ignore red lights and ride over pedestrian crossings weaving their way through the people crossing.

loveka · 10/08/2018 13:57

Not indicating. I just don't understand it.

Sparklesocks · 10/08/2018 13:58

I was pulling out of my road recently got stuck behind a car absolutely CRAWLING to the junction, maybe 5-10mph...

When he finally got there I could see he was using his phone! Utter bastard!

I also loathe tailgating, people who edge out of junctions without looking, and when lanes merge and drivers behind you speed up and overtake to get in front!! Sad gits

NerrSnerr · 10/08/2018 13:58

People who join the motorway at 40mph, I was stuck behind someone who did that today.

People who don't use headlights on the motorway in heavy rain

People who drive too close behind on the motorway (I think most aren't trying to intimidate or tail gate, they're just oblivious).

cate16 · 10/08/2018 14:03

My pet hates it when people use our drive to turn around... makes him bark Grin

Butterfly98 · 10/08/2018 14:11

Another one is during heavy rain ☔️ or fog people driving without ANY lights on at all! They appear out of the mist like a scene from a Stephen King novel! They must think they are saving on fuel or maybe they are simply plain stupid

OP posts:
bigassmom · 10/08/2018 14:21

Got stuck behind a guy in a brand new Maserati who pulled off so slowly from the lights that he was the only car who could go through, and would accelerate to max 20mph before slowing down again and then repeating. Every time it was safe to go around him he'd accelerate to my speed until I gave up, and then slam on the breaks. Don't think I've ever been so tempted to just ram someone and take the hit on my insurance Grin.
(Don't worry, I kept the 2 car distance when I could lol)

ankasi · 10/08/2018 14:25

Okay, so here we go (sorry loooong list)

  • Not indicating
  • Driving too slow
  • Overtaking dangerously
  • Lane hogging
  • Flashing lights and tailgating, there is always a reason why I can't switch lanes
  • Speeding through populated areas, well above the speed limits
  • Using the mobile while on the phone
  • Bad parking, my car isn't always parked straight, but always well within the lines
  • Drivers who hog car park spaces right by store entrances - They would drive in if they could
  • People idling their engines
  • People blocking traffic because they "just want to" drop someone off, pick someone up, nip into the shops, etc. and who then get shirty if beeped at
  • When visiting my family in Germany: The parents who insist on driving their children to kindergarten and then take longer to park the car than they would have taken to walk from home to kindi and back again
MammaSchwifty · 10/08/2018 14:29

Middle lane huggers on the motorway Angry

wink1970 · 10/08/2018 14:30

another vote for roundabout idiocy: don't go all the way round (i.e. further round than left or straight ahead) in the left lane, you're an accident waiting to happen.

MyDirtyLittleSecret · 10/08/2018 14:31

Maserati = speed cop magnet.
Around here every other car is a luxury speed demon but the drivers are so scared of getting a ticket they drive like little old men out for a Sunday pootle! I have a Mustang and drive fairly conservatively because, again, out of 29 cars shattering landspeed records over the limit "keeping up with the flow of traffic, officer" guess which one gets stopped by the cops? Meanwhile Honda Civics and Ford Fusions are flying by like they're in a flipping F1 pole position trial.

19lottie82 · 10/08/2018 14:31

Drivers that refuse to let you off the slip road and onto the motorway in rush hour. Zip merge mother fuckers...... ZIP MERGE!

And also drivers that try to motion you to go when they have right if way..... why? Then get pissed off when you don’t.
