To feed someone else's cat?

It pines at me and sits on my window ledge!

However, neighbour (sent their seven yr old kid) to knock and asked me not to feed cat because it's on a 'diet'!

I want to respond with "nobody puts 'cat' on a diet!' 😂

But, it's not my cat!

Aibu to feed it? How do I stop it begging and staring in my window?

Do not feed the cat, and if you want it to go away, ignore it. One of my neighbours really upset me recently, one of our cats has been in her garden and she took a bit of a shine to him. She's obviously been feeding him as he stopped eating his food at home. She came round looking for his owner as she was concerned he was a stray (he's tubby! so hardly looks malnourished), was convinced he was a girl (err no, I paid for him to be neutered so am pretty certain he is a boy).

She was very over invested and it freaked me out a bit, I kept him in for the following week as I didn't want him going round there. Since then, he's been for his booster injections and he's overweight, we're cutting down on his food, so yes, cats do sometimes need to go on a diet, he needs to loose a bit so there's no strain on his organs. I would be pretty pissed off if someone else thought they knew better and fed him again.

Where is @Stellenbosch (the OP.) ??? Confused

Didn't like the fact that no-one agreed with what she was doing? Wink

I agree. It was wrong. And I will not do it again.

It started out innocently enough... and then it became a habit when the thing wouldn't stop begging and staring!

@Stellenbosch talk to the neighbours about allowed treats.
The cat will be happy with treats too.

To be fair cats can be manipulative sods mine are always trying to play me and DH off each other by pretending they haven’t been fed!

Nooooooooooooo Angry Just don't feed other people's cats. Simple as that.

Do not feed the cat.
My cat needs wheat free diet for medical reason. Obviously you can’t stop them eating everything but my cat doesn’t look malnourished and has a glossy coat so it’s obvious it’s not a stray

If it was a stray cat then I would definitely say feed if

tildaMa · 10/08/2018 21:31

@nipersvest did you miss the part with talking to neighbour about approved treats in limited amounts?

ProfessorMoody · 10/08/2018 21:51

Why the actual fuck would anyone feed someone else's cat when they've been told not to?!

Fucks sake.
