Builders parked trailer on my drive

Elderflower78 · 07/08/2018 10:29

From 8am this morning there has been a trailer full of crap on my driveway parked next to my car, so as soon as dh has left for work they have took his space.
The neighbours across from us are having their garden done up and getting work done. What pisses me off even more is the neighbours car is in his driveway which he could have moved to let the builder twats in.
I have parked my car so that they find it hard to get into the trailer.
I don't want to block them in incase they leave it there overnight, assuming they will be here all week.
I've beeped the horn and nobody has came and I've chapped the door but nobody answering.
I am fucking raging.

Oh and there is nothing wrong with me Hmm another cheeky fucker, that's what is wrong with you!

It wouldn't matter if there were no cars on OP's driveway, ever.

It's her property, not just there for any tom or dick to use at their leisure.

Stormtrooper1986 · 07/08/2018 10:50

Get someone to tow it into the road and leave it !!

Do you share a driveway at all? Do you have a gate they had to open to put the trailer on there ? Have you telephoned the builders direct and said for them to get it off your driveway otherwise you are going to start charging them rent for storing their trailer on your driveway ?

SavannahSky · 07/08/2018 10:51

Put the 'free' sign on it

Chances are they will see it and move it

Stompythedinosaur · 07/08/2018 10:51

You have to go and speak to the neighbours I think. Even if they are horrible.

Obviously they ABU.

serbska · 07/08/2018 10:52

Just go over and speak to the builders and/or neighbor.

KateGrey · 07/08/2018 10:52

I’d be round the neighbours. Where are the people who left the trailer? It’s not acceptable. Whether you’re using it or not it’s your property. My next door next has a big garden they aren’t home in the day and not using it. Does that give me the right? No it doesn’t.

Usernom1234567890 · 07/08/2018 10:53

An argument is inevitable in this situation; try and get someone to go with you ( DH?) when you locate the builders or neighbours. Good luck

Ignoramusgiganticus · 07/08/2018 10:54

I'd be raging op. Go to their neighbours and ask if you can go into their back gardens to speak to the builders over the fence.

MorrisDancingViv · 07/08/2018 10:54

You need to go round and speak to builders/neighbours. Politely explain it needs moving ASAP as your DH needs to park there.

If they refuse, put it on Freecycle.

Spanglyprincess1 · 07/08/2018 10:55

Just tell them to move it or clamp it. I'd also stick a note on telling them you charge xy amount for parking fines per day till it's moved

myusernamewastakenbyme · 07/08/2018 10:55

Wtf does chapping the door mean....whats wrong with saying knocked or knocking !!!

HighwayDragon1 · 07/08/2018 10:55

Oh yes, a live parking thread!

We need a diagram

I'd go mental, they'd have to move it immediately, call/tweet the company

Bibesia · 07/08/2018 10:56

Is the name of the builders on their vehicle? Phone them and tell them they need to get it moved immediately if they don't want it towed away.

SneakyGremlins · 07/08/2018 10:56

OP, Diagram. Now.

SneakyGremlins · 07/08/2018 10:56

Love the idea of putting "Please take" on it Grin

Bibesia · 07/08/2018 10:58

Bluelady, OP's husband can't get his car in and out, nor can legitimate visitors to her house, nor indeed can emergency services. Are those good enough reasons for you?

If you're this relaxed about strangers parking on your property, could you let us know where you are so we know where to park if we visit your area?

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 07/08/2018 10:59

In the first instance I'd be polite with the builders, chances are they have been told by Cfers it's OK to park there - but apart from that I'd be in all guns blazing!

You said they aren't answering the door, but as it's garden work being done is there side or rear access you cold try? Even if it means popping your head over a neighbours fence?!

PitchBlackNight · 07/08/2018 11:01

Can you phone the company?

I’d call at the neighbours again and politely ask if they could move the trailer. Tell them you need the drive. There is no need for confrontations or deadlines or similar at this stage. A friendly request (even if you are seething) will probably be more effective.

Note that I said ‘probably’

Shock

Cheeky bastards!

Pop a sign up: ‘parking fee notice - £5 per hour, please knock to get a ticket. No ticket = £100 fine’.

Uncreative · 07/08/2018 11:09

I like HardasNails suggestion!

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 11:09

I feel your pain OP.

Someone has parked a works van over my drive.

I'm currently blocked in.

No idea who it belongs to.

PickAChew · 07/08/2018 11:11

Heavy stuff like that can make a right mess of a driveway.
