New pram for second DC?

Hi all, I’m expecting my second DC in three months and was just wondering whether most people buy another pram? For my DS we got the Bugaboo Cameleon, so it was pretty expensive. It’s in fairly good condition but obviously would need a bit of a clean / spruce up. There’s something a bit exciting though about pram shopping though and wheeling a new baby in a brand new model...! Am I being totally over indulgent and unreasonable? Celebs and people I follow on social media all seem to get a new model with each child but is this normal?! Thanks in advance!

Plenty of men have a second "fun" car or a motorbike. I don't see why you shouldn't have a second pram. It's a helluva lot cheaper than a car.

I think our bugaboo donkey (which I bloody hated and barely ever used... luckily I sold it on!) cost more than our second car Grin

We had one travel system that did for both our boys. I did add a buggy board with DS2 in case DS1's little legs got tired. We also had a cheapo umbrella folding stroller for going away as it didn't take up loads of room. I really don't understand why people seem to be so obsessed with buying prams...

We got 2 prams, but one was under 100 quid and the other was 200 quid. The cheaper one was for taking on the tube, as needed to be lifted up and down stairs. The other was more for when we had step-free access. We don't have a car and so use them a lot!

We ended up buying another of the cheaper prams as it was 50 percent off, and the original was getting a bit worn.

So we got 3 prams, but they were still cheaper than a single bugaboo.

My first pram was my sisters pram for my niece and nephew, I did get a double for second - from ebay but was pristine, I replaced the pram with a more robust buggy. I also got given a well used phil and teds double which I found too heavy hence the purchase of another one!

I have only every bought a stroller for holiday.

In total I think I have spent less than £1200 on 5 buggies, including servicing, new wheels, odd spare parts, snugs etc.

Don't get the obsession! =)

Give it a good clean, or send it to a company who do it for you.

We already have 3 and only 1 child - a cameleon, a yo-yo as we were living abroad and it is amazing for travel and then we got a maclaren for everyday use as easier to get on buses etc than the cam...

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/08/2018 14:10

We got a double in preparation for dc2 as we will need it for the nursery run

If you want a new one and can afford it easily then do. We have a couple for different uses (the main everyday one, a tiny one for travel on the plane etc and a cheap spare we had to get when the first one got damaged and needed repairing.)

Or you could buy new fabrics for it? If you have the money and really want to then do.

I had new prams for both of mine , if you can afford it and you want to then why not . Apart from some toys the only thing we handed down to the second dc was the cot bed .

If it's in good condition then why not? If you're fussed about it being the latest one, I know sometimes you can buy replacement hoods and foormuffs and things, so you could just buy them so it looks like the new one.
We kept our silver cross pioneer and all the accessories, intending to do exactly what I said above so no one would know it's not new. But it's not in great condition and would need some new parts/ service. Plus it takes up room, so we may just get rid of it.

I had the same pram for 4 of my 5 children and in between it was used for another 3 babies. I also used the same pushchair for 4 of them. I did buy a lightweight folding buggy and a second hand pushchair for a holiday when my son was small and I knew he would sleep better if he could lie flat.

The pram has been in storage for 15 years but hopefully will one day be used by the grandchildren

Also you may find people you follow on social media are given the new prams!
