Ok so I am going back to my office job (which I find stressful and frustrating) soon after my maternity leave finishes.

AIBU to ask people out there to cheer me up by telling me what's great about your office job?

What do you and your colleagues do to brighten your day? To keep yourselves happy and maybe even entertained?

We sometimes get bacon sandwiches in on a Friday. That will be something I can look forward to. Could do with some more ideas though! And reminders of the good points. Like getting to sit down I suppose! Feel like I am grasping straws here...

I think I need to start drinking tea and coffee so I can fully benefit from office life :)

The tea helps with any sleepy moments...

Interesting colleagues
Ability to pop out as you please
Peace and quiet
Easy to photocopy/scan private documents
Unlimited sparkling water
Team lunches

Just think of the money. Tbh I hated working in an office as I felt like I was imprisoned so I changed jobs.

ChikiTIKI · 07/08/2018 08:54

Ugh yeah the imprisoned feel I am not looking forward to. We actually have bars on the Windows :(

My wages pay for my bills, hobbies and luxuries. However, at night it is freezing due to the Aircon being on full blast !

I have an office to myself but it's in a school and i miss the culture of my old office job. It was in central London and I miss the commute, I miss the social side of office jobs and I miss popping out for lunch .

eyycarumba · 07/08/2018 10:07

Air conditioning, adult (very adult) conversations with my colleagues, fat fridays, not dealing with clients face to face (much) and having skills that are easily transferable if I wanted to leave

Polarbearflavour · 07/08/2018 10:59

I’m temping at the moment and it’s soooooo boring. I’ve worked in offices I’ve halfed like before.

I’m personally sick of crappy glorified admin jobs and I’m going to quit to start my own business based on my home office!

Apehouse · 07/08/2018 12:14

People mostly waiting for others to finish their sentences instead of talking over them. Premises that are cleaned by someone else.

DarlingNikita · 07/08/2018 12:21

I no longer work in an office and I don't miss it overall, but do miss the commute (reading time), the all-day understated but life-enhancing communication/banter with colleagues and the opportunity to put decent clothes on (I work at home looking like a bag lady these days).

ChikiTIKI · 07/08/2018 19:03

I'm feeling better now thinking about all the nice chatting, nice clean clothes, personal space etc...

It won't be great but parts of it will be nice :)
