I am around 52kg at 5'7". I have always been thin and think genetics are mostly responsible for that. I think that I have inherited the beanpole figures of my dad, grandfather, great grandfather etc. The women in my family - with the exception of one cousin - are on the slightly "sturdier" side of average, and have a tendency to put on weight easier than I do.
But, despite the fact that I genuinely can eat just about whatever I like and not gain weight, I do watch what I eat and try to ensure that at least 80% of it is "healthy".
This morning I have had porridge with banana. That is 1/4 cup of traditional (not quick) oats, soaked in water, cooked in full fat milk and with a whole banana served on top. No sugar or honey. I do eat a tablespoon of local honey every day to help with hay fever, though.
I am going out for most of today, so my diet will be a bit different to what it would typically be, but most days at work I have the following:
- Fruit (strawberries, banana, kiwi, blueberries, orange, mandarin, pears etc. some combination of these)
- Yogurt (about 3 tablespoons)
- A Birdseye steam fresh bag of veggies
- A couple of biscuits or a Freddo chocolate
- Sometimes a sandwich instead of the fruit or veg (white bread, either with peanut butter or Vegemite)
Dinner is always typical - chicken pie, lasagne, spag bol, quiche, sometimes we just have a big plate of roast veggies, stir fries etc.
If I want to eat chips or chocolate or whatever, I do, but I try not to keep too much of it in the house because I have difficulty stopping after a moderate amount. Basically, I allow myself to buy one treat each week (I only grocery shop once a week) and that has to last the week; if I eat it all in one day, that's just tough shit.
I walk between 6 and 8km every day, and ski a lot in winter. But I don't go to the gym or do anything beyond that.
