Aibu that the brand doesn't matter if it's appreciated?

Ok so 16 year old girl had a 'grown ups only' birthday party (basically all her adult relations were invited not friends - she had a separate party for them) and she was bought a camera by her parents (the mother is my friend), it was a really good quality camera.

The daughter really appreciated it, thanked her parents whole heartedly and immediately began to use it and show it to people.

Their neighbour then arrived at the party and asked the girl what make the camera was when she showed it. The girl said she didn't know.
Neighbour then practically let rip at her for not being appreciative and that she should know what she's been bought.

Her parents weren't in the room at the time but I stepped into the conversation to steer the conversation as she was visibly upset.

Aibu to think the neighbour was a twat and the girl is just young and showed plenty of appreciation and the brand doesn't matter?

The neighbour was an enormous knobrocket of epic proportions

Neighbour is bonkers! As long as it does what she wants that’s all that matters.

Neighbor has a screw loose

I actually think it shows she appreciated it more as she obviously didn’t care about the brand name of the camera!

Glad you agree! I was a bit Confused that no-one else said anything at the time.

She's having her friends over this evening so hopefully she can forget it and have fun!

Neighbour is a loon.

Totally agree with pp that the fact she didn’t know the brand meant she appreciated it even more as obviously she wasn’t concerned about the brand . The neighbour is a knob end .

Tbh I was tiny bit surprised she didn't know the brand considering her father is a career photographer and she gets her love of cameras from him but she absolutely showed her considerable gratitude and genuine happiness in my opinion.

My friend has said that the neighbour is a bit of an odd ball anyway.
