AIBU to hope the person who hacked my ebay account yesterday, changed my password and tried to buy stuff, reads this so I can express what a nasty, useless piece of shit they are, and that the world would be a better place without thieving twats like them in it? Yes YOU! You were trying to buy a mobile phone, a Little Mix hoodie, Little Mix t-shirt and a pair of suede ankle boots. I had better things, ie honest, productive things, to do yesterday than waste time on the phone to ebay and changing my passwords for everything. If I wanted to supplement the lifestyle of a complete stranger I would choose one with a little more taste and style love. I hope ebay fraud office gets in touch soon. Have a shit day. Rant over.

Sounds like maybe a teenager ordering them things??

But yes I agree, thieving bastards!! I hope you get sorted OP

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/08/2018 12:14

You don't have kids do you OP?

MissionItsPossible · 04/08/2018 12:20

Unless you explain further, this sounds more of the work from someone closer to home or that you are really lax with logging into eBay on computers or devices that are not your own. Or your password is very, very easy.

Eleventwelths · 04/08/2018 12:21

How did they guess/get your password?

Bobbybear10 · 04/08/2018 12:27

Do you have kids?

It sounds a little closer to home tbh

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 04/08/2018 12:39

My DD when she was 3 ordered a bumbo seat with all the accessory toys! £60! I didn't know until it was delivered! Opened the box, I was confused, DD was excited 'It came' she said! She was far too big for it, however I had a tiny baby who we could make use of it for.

Do you have children OP? It can and does happen!

hungryhippo90 · 04/08/2018 12:41

Hmm, sounds like the doings of a 12 year old.

SpecialBond · 04/08/2018 12:42

I got hacked on ebay a few weeks ago. Took 10 minutes to sort out on the 'phone to ebay fraud department. They were fab.

FishingIsNotASport · 04/08/2018 18:06

No, our kids are grown up and living far away. Just me in the house yesterday and I've checked the cupboards for stowaway teenyboppers and nope nothing. The dog is looking shifty though Grin. Whoever it was must have first hacked my email and then gone onto ebay used my email address but claimed to have forgotten password,. That's what the Ebay fraud guy said anyway. I found out quickly as Ebay had sent me one of their "You recently browsed...." and "More items inspired by your recent views...." emails, full of pics of phones, and I knew I hadn't been looking at phones. Weird things for an adult to try to acquire by theft I agree.. It was just the icing on the cake of a frustrating day all round yesterday, but no harm done.

They hacked into mine, bought something, changed my address (to somewhere in Russia) and changed my email address and password so I couldn't even get in to my account to raise the alarm!

The ebay fraud telephone line was fab though. Sorted it quickly but having to cancel my card was mildly annoying.

OP this happened to me the other week - thieving little shits tried to buy a load of memory cards before moving onto bigger items. They changed my password and added their address to the delivery address list fucking idiots, two minutes on the phone to an utterly lovely lady at eBay and it was all sorted and their IP address (somewhere nowhere near me) was blacklisted for any further eBay activity. I had to change every single password though, absolute pain in the arse.

FishingIsNotASport · 04/08/2018 19:06

VelociraptorRex yes it was the having to change all my passwords that really peed me off. The chap at Ebay in America was absolutely lovely and I've now got 2 step verification set up. I checked my delivery address and it had been changed to a place in east London. Tempted to send them some dog poo in the post!

MsHomeSlice · 04/08/2018 19:12

ooh you have an address!! ...GLITTERBOMB!! that'll teach them!

TheCosmicOwl · 04/08/2018 19:20

Iputthescrewinthetuna your DD will go far Grin

My DH's ebay was hacked, they bought a PlayStation 4. We then found out there was a virus on his laptop, which is possibly how they hacked him. So he had to change his passwords for absolutely everything and get a new laptop as it couldn't be fixed Sad

ProudThrilledHappy · 04/08/2018 19:23

Since you have their address...

AsteroidAsterix · 04/08/2018 19:27

Someone in Canada used my account to buy a floral stemming machine...I'm still not sure what one is. Really annoying cancelling cards, changing passwords and making numerous calls to eBay and PayPal.

Hoppinggreen · 04/08/2018 19:28

My very well to do designer loving friend was incensed when someOne cloned her credit card because they used it to shop at ARGOS! I think the choice of shop upset her more than the theft
Also when someone committed fraud on my mostly deaf vaguely confused 78 year old sdad they picked exactly the wrong g items to purchase.
A BBQ - they live in a flat with no garden
Sports subscription- other than Antiques roadshow he doesn’t watch TV
Pizza delivery- he couldn’t order a pizza online if his life depended on it

When I took him to the bank to sort it out they asked if we were sure he hadn’t made the purchases, I gave Her the “ really?” Look and she agreed it was very unlikely
If they had bought comfy shoes and some nice M&S slacks they might have got away with it.
Sorry for your troubles OP, hope it gets sorted quickly.

VelociraptorRex · 04/08/2018 19:45

@MsHomeSlice damnit that's an awesome idea, wish I'd thought of that one! Although I'd feel better posting dog shit to them it seemed although the IP address was in the UK they were sending the stuff to Kazakhstan so posting revenge would be expensive Hmm
