I am 38 weeks pregnant, living in Portugal.

I have told the baby it better wait a bit more to get born, as I remember from my first one the maternity wards being really hot.

I am currently seated between two fans and being fed ice cream by my husband Grin

myusernamewastakenbyme · 05/08/2018 16:40

Unbearable in Norfolk today.....i love the sun but im starting to struggle....house is a tip and our village is swarming with flies....my elderly cat is struggling tooSad

Allchangehere346 · 05/08/2018 16:41

It’s hideously hot.

If you are suffering I fully recommend the cool max pillow.

Yep the JML one. Believe the hype.

pigsDOfly · 05/08/2018 16:42

My DD is also heavily pregnant Laureline - just over 37 weeks - and she's just so fed up now with the heat.

I'm finding it really hard to sleep, as I imagine everyone is. Put the fan on and eventually find I'm too cold, leave the fan off and eventually I'm too hot. Dog, is restless and unable to settle.

I live in a really quiet place but even so, having the windows open means that I, and all my neighbours, had to listen to some stupid girl having a loud conversation on her mobile with her mate at 1.30 this morning.

Roll on winter when I can shut my windows, snuggle beneath my nice thick duvet and just sleep.

dementedma · 05/08/2018 16:45

No longer hot in Scotland sadly. Back to our default of grey skies and rain after a proper spell of summer weather. Would gladly swap.

pigsDOfly · 05/08/2018 16:49

Yes, that to me is the most annoying bit. It's either boiling bloody hot or pouring with rain.

Is it asking too much to have a nice warm day with a bit of sunshine and a pleasant breeze?

I second what GinPink says.

KateGrey · 05/08/2018 17:44

@dementedma you can gladly have the heat back. I’m fed up. Out all afternoon in the shade and have come back to my oven of a house.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/08/2018 17:51

Spain here too. 38 in the day, still 30 gone midnight.
I will be glad to go home to cool North Wales next week.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/08/2018 17:52

Would love a thermometer to see what it would reach in the Sun here. Def way over 40.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 05/08/2018 17:53

I’m in the first trimester of pregnancy... so the heat has contributed to the 24/7 nausea I’ve had. I’ve not thrown up or felt sick for the last two days though, so to celebrate I’ve cooked a roast dinner.

Five hours of hot kitchen was not my best decision ever 😩😩

sulflower · 05/08/2018 21:07

@recklessruby

I hate it and am escaping back to Aberdeen for a few weeks soon.
Even if it's hot the north sea is freezing 😊

I was at the beach at 6am the other morning for a workout and could not believe my eyes, a chap stripped off to his Speedos and went for a swim (tide was right in). It was really warm air temp but bloody hell, it's the North Sea! It's never even slightly warm.

SerenDippitty · 05/08/2018 21:13

I am holidaying in the only part of the UK which is not hot. It is pissing down and windy. When I watch the news I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 05/08/2018 21:26

It's bloody miserable

I am so passed being too hot. I haven't slept properly in weeks

Roll on winter.

madmomma · 05/08/2018 21:27

We're going to southern Spain next week to a villa with no air con and I'm really quite worried.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 05/08/2018 21:34

We've been decluttering ready for downsizing. Absolutely hideous. A litre of fluid every hour, having to wipe dried sweat off glasses all the time, the council tip is an oven of stench, the car burns when you touch it. I'll be sleeping under a damp towel again tonight.

SecretWitch · 05/08/2018 21:57

Picture this, a sad little family of three huddled around the only working air conditioner. The heat weary mum tenderly allowing her beloved child to take her place in front of the vent. The sweat drenched father, slowly calculating the cost of running life saving machine 24/7. Dicken’s would be crying at this wretched spectacle.

dementedma · 06/08/2018 21:29

that's heart wrenching secret but picture this:
A family sadly putting away summer clothes and sandals, standing mournfully with faces pressed against the glass watching the rain wash out summer activities and the recent summer weather already becoming a memory.
Since the heatwave broke, it has rained every fucking day.....

MissClareRemembers · 06/08/2018 21:50

@madmomma whereabouts in Spain are you going?

We’re in Andalusia and it’s not that bad. Max of 34C during hottest part of the day. There’s usually a nice breeze that lifts your hair and feels gorgeous. In fact, during the evening I’ve actually felt a bit chilly!

Our villa doesn’t have air con but the car does and we have a swimming pool.

SecretWitch · 06/08/2018 22:39

@dementedma, (which in my heat addled brain, I read as dentedma) you win! Ain’t nothing worse than a rained out vacation..

DrCoconut · 06/08/2018 22:51

I'm really hoping the weather doesn't crack up for our holiday next week. It would be typical to have a heat wave while everyone is at work/school/home then 19 degrees and raining (as the weather app is predicting) when you finally get to the beach 😭
