To think she is just a bit of a bitch?

I only work from 11-3 Monday to Thursday but full day on a Friday.
Everyday I take my 2 dd's to school then go straight to the gym, home for a shower then off to work which means I usually do the school run in gym clothes so leggings and a sports top and light jacket. On a Friday I have to be in for 9 so am dressed in a suit or smart dress and full makeup. Anyway there is one mum in the playground who always gives me funny looks but I've never known why until today. I have the whole 6 weeks off for the holidays but this week my dd's are attending summer club where this woman's ds is also going and today she made it clear what her problem is. She was standing next to me then just turned and asked why I never bother to get dressed before leaving the house I was shocked and explained that I go to the gym every morning and because our house is quite far out I just go straight after drop off, she jut replied with 'ok' but I could tell she wasn't happy with my answer. Does she expect me to get dressed, drop the kids off, go home and change for the gym, go home again to change and then go to work? For what its worth she only drops off mon-weds and never picks up her ds (he has a childminder) so I guess she has never seen me in smart clothes, hair brushed and makeup on but even so she has made me feel like shit and I very self conscious of what I'm going to be wearing everyday. She was being bitch. There was no need for you to explain yourself. She's a dick.

There's always dicks, when a group of people get together. Especially on the school run. I remember one mother bitching about me. I heard her say 'look at her dressed like that just to drop the kids off, why would you?'.

I looked at her and she looked a bit embarssed and I just laughed at her. I was dressed for work. This was a school where most of the mum's were sahms. It clearly never entered her head that I dresses in business wear, for a reason.

I wasn't going to explain that to her. She was a dick.

I wasn't going to explain that to her. She was a dick.

I would have had to say something like ‘some of us have careers, you know.’ However I suspect that she probably knew you were going to work, and randomly took a disliking to you so was just trying to say anything to embarrass you/bad mouth you to others!

OP, I think it’s so brazen that she thought to ask you that! Especially how it is worded ‘why I never bother to get dressed‘. It’s like she’s trying to say that you just rolled out of bed in pjs without a shower, brushing your teeth etc. She would never have been satisfied with anything that you said, she just thinks she’s above you and again wanted to embarrass you. She doesn’t like you so she wasn’t going to salary today. It’s so odd that some people are so comfortable being twats like this

Oh OP you care too much. Some people are socially inept. Maybe she thought she was initiating a conversation. Anyway, who cares? Dont worry.

I'm with FarFlungFairy but if all your gym work OP has resulted in an especially beautifully honed and toned body, I'd get a pair of really short boy shorts and a crop top the next time I dropped at school - see what she thinks of that!!! Stupid woman (her, not you, obvs). Jealousy manifests itself in so many forms....

PitchBlackNight · 05/08/2018 09:46

I've never been to a school drop off where half the parents haven't been dressed in gym stuff.

I think the woman sounds a bit off but you are reading an awful lot into it. If you thinks she's been giving you 'looks' then is it possible she thinks you have been giving her 'looks' too?

sar501 · 05/08/2018 09:55

If you go to the gym regularly then I’m guessing you probably have a good figure and are a lot fitter than she is. She’s probably jealous of you.
