Do you like it better when people answer your thread withoutreading all the other answers kn the thread or if they do not answer at all?

OP posts:

I don't start threads often but it annoys me when people comment without reading the thread as they are usually repeating what many others have said or ask a questions which has already been addressed by the OP.

The worst one was a thread on classics now, where OP was asking about something to do with a cheque and the first few commenters said "cancel the cheque". OP replied quickly stating it was too late to do so. 20 pages later people were still commenting to say "cancel the cheque".

I think mumsnet would be better if there was a function to read all the OPs responses so you could at least read those.

SpecialBond · 03/08/2018 19:31

There is that function..

ConfusedWife1234 · 03/08/2018 19:32

But you can read all the OPs responses. Mumsnet colours them green.

Sorry, posted too soon, you just make the OPs posts a different colour.

Churrolicious · 03/08/2018 19:33

I skim for the green, I figure that’s enough it a thread is 10+ pages by the time I get to it.

Alibaba87 · 03/08/2018 19:33

I guess sometimes there’s a lot of scrolling to get through if it’s a big one!

AnalUnicorn · 03/08/2018 19:34

I’ll answer a different question and say that if there are more than 20 or so responses on a thread then I’m unlikely to read them all unless it’s a particularly gripping thread.

Merryoldgoat · 03/08/2018 19:36

I always read all of the OP posts but not necessarily the rest.

That’s all I think is really necessary and all I’d like people to do on my threads.

Oysterbabe · 03/08/2018 19:36

I like it when responders read the OP before replying. Pretty much every thread has people asking questions that are in the OP.

Ethylred · 03/08/2018 19:37

Tl;dr.
No. Or maybe yes. Depending.

BertieBotts · 03/08/2018 19:44

IMO you should read as a minimum:

The OP's posts
The first few initial responses
The few most recent responses

If nothing else just to make sure that the thread hasn't totally moved on.

If you can't be arsed then just close the thread, there are hundreds of others, if it has so many posts on it already then your input probably isn't going to make any difference. Unless you're interested/intrigued enough to read a good chunk it's probably not worth it.
