To reject potential tenants before I've met them, based on their Facebook profile?

I'm a private landlord and my flat will be available to rent again next month. Like I always do when I get a new tenant, I've advertised it on a local Facebook page. I've had quite a lot of enquiries, as it's fully furnished and a low price. I've checked out the Facebook profiles of the people enquiring and they include people who have the following on their profiles (I haven't friended any, this is what I can see publicly)

• An intro saying "If you don't like me then simple fuck off"
• A cover picture of a marijuana plant
• Shared memes like the attached

WIBU to say no upfront to these people?

1. I think the same. Don’t like me fuck off. I’m not changing for you, you don’t like me so why are you here.
2. marijuana does have medicinal purposes. It used to be legal and was made illegal because well a rich man found a commodity that could be used in similar ways (!not smoked) and set about a swear campaign.
3. imagine if we all had the same opinions and sent the same meme what a dull world.

I haven't interviewed people based on their FB. I totally wouldn't rent to one of those.

a facebook stalk is an important part of all landlord checks nowadays. Someone dumb enough to a) have a public profile and b) put this kind of thing on it is not who you want, given that they can move it and pay NOTHING for months until you evict.

I saw on FB Page on a local site offering gardening services and they had a similar profile picture and I did wonder if they ever got any work requests.

To be fair they’ve given you clear instruction: if you don’t like them, fuck off. So no, you shouldn’t rent to them.

Facebook is a strange way to select people. I would reject all of these people. I use references from previous landlords, employer refs, credit refs and a reputable tenant finding agency. We get the odd duffer but it helps

She’s not selecting them using FB, she’s filtering them using FB, she will select after meeting them and going through a proper credit check and application process.

I would reject them. All signs of hassle as tenants - house smelling of weed, aggressive attitude etc.

Companies often look at Facebook during the intereview process.

If you are stupid and daft enough not to recognise that then I suspect you will find the world of work a real struggle.

nibbling on principle I don't care if people smoke weed, but I have stipulated no smokers (for a good reason) and don't want weed smoked in my flat.

And WRT the meme, yes we are all different but I don't really want to rent my flat to a sexist

I think that might be the type of person you attract if your flat is cheaper than the going rate.

I would reject too, you don’t want grumpy arseholes telling you to fuck off. Also you could end up with people growing marijuana in your rental flat which wouldn’t be ideal.

I'm not sure about the first one, I'd probably want more to go on. If they have ranty facebook posts too then yeah I'd pass them over.
The other two, no way would I want them in a property that I own. TBH I wouldn't want anything to do with the 3rd one. What a twat.
