Sorry if there’s already a thread been reading the CDWM thread with interest...but would to know any secrets about locationx3
I would love to have a budget big enough to go on it one day but they all seem to have 500k at the age of 21 these days 🤔
Any secrets kirsty and Phil seem lovely I hope they are as nice in RL

@MorrisZapp I remember those two spoilt sisters on PL. Didn't one of them commission a bespoke picture of Audrey Hepburn to go on the living room wall? I remember it cost over 10k!

wonkylegs · 25/09/2018 15:47

So far every site visit has been a beautiful sunny day and its the most gorgeous location (it one of my favourite jobs to visit at the moment) so yup expecting a tsunami on the day the glass arrives.
I did have a bit of a worry last week in the storm as I lost a tree at my house but builder said all was fine on site as it's quite a sheltered spot.
Fab clients & builder though so we don't have any tv worthy dramatics.

captainpantbeard · 25/09/2018 17:01

I miss Property Ladder!

HeronLanyon · 25/09/2018 17:32

Wonkylegs - interesting and what a shame (or perhaps not) to miss your own moment in property tv !

HeronLanyon · 25/09/2018 17:33

I also miss property ladder. Really great programme.

Petalflowers · 25/09/2018 17:44

I quite often google the ‘forever homes’ that are built on Grand Designs. It’s amazimg how often they are sold, six months, or a year or two after being completed. This is despite the builders insisting that it’s the house of their dreams etc.

Petalflowers · 25/09/2018 17:44

I’d also, forgotten about Colin and Justin.

BewareOfDragons · 25/09/2018 17:51

Sarah Beeny and Property Ladder was the absolute best show. Never disagree with The Beeny!

CoffeeShortbread · 25/09/2018 17:54

Petalflowers, I think that’s largely for financial reasons. The people go so far over budget, overstretching themselves, taking bridging loans, building on credit cards, remortgaging that they can’t afford to live in them afterwards. Sad really.

Petalflowers · 25/09/2018 18:08

I wonder whether it’s because the people who build them are ‘project people’ and are never satisfied sitting still. Therefore, when one project, such as a house build is completed, they then have to,do something else.

Although, I agree that finances probably plays a large part also.

dingdongdigeridoo · 25/09/2018 18:08

I’m guessing the day to day costs of living in one of the Grand Designs homes are higher than people anticipate. Some of them look a bugger to heat.

I used to watch the US show Extreme Makeover when they’d build amazing homes for poor families. Many of the homes ended up being sold because the property taxes were so high, and I remember reading some of the participants were uncomfortable living in such beautiful homes in poor areas.

bridgetreilly · 25/09/2018 18:21

I remember to buy or not to buy! Guilty pleasure tv that was as good as Homes Under the Hammer!

An old school friend of mine was one of the presenters of To Buy or Not to Buy for a while. I had no idea (had lost touch with her) then turned on the TV and there she was!

bridgetreilly · 25/09/2018 18:28

There also seem to be an amazing number of people who have parents with enough land that they can build their tiny home on FREE land. Makes life so much easier if you start out with a a valuable asset like that.

I admit, this is me, and yes, I'm very, very lucky.

shutlingsloe · 25/09/2018 18:48

I've always been a bit ever since K & P went to Gateacre in Liverpool and stubbornly kept calling it 'Gate-acre' (when the stress should be on the 'gat', as in 'Gattaca')

Remember this one, had to switch it off as DP looked like he might explode Grin

Buteo · 25/09/2018 19:42

wonkylegs you have insisted that buff German glass fitters will be on hand to strip off lend a hand?

CatboySpeed · 25/09/2018 19:51

Oh I remember those two awful girls with the ridiculous wall tiles! They decorated it like they were going to live there and couldn’t understand that it was just going to be sold. They were so annoying!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 25/09/2018 20:23

I’m glad it’s not just me who is not a George Clarke fan, I remember one episode of Ugly House to Lovely House where a couple in Croydon owned an ex council house, a 3 bed 1920’s semi, they spent £200,000 grand on doing it up!!! It looked lovely but my goodness the money they spent on it and no way did they increase its value to that extent, it was still quite a small house. Twitter went into meltdown and GC got slaughtered for not stepping in to try and reign them back on the project. It was a gripping episode I was Shock Shock Shock

beanaseireann · 26/09/2018 07:39

Conflicting opinions on Kirstie by posters on this who have met / worked with her in LLL..

flowerythorns · 26/09/2018 07:59

We play 'Hemnes' bingo during LLL

It's the range of drawers/dressers that IKEA do.

It's this years laminate floor. I swear every house has at least one item from this range we do

Oh and trofast in the playroom obvs!

CoffeeShortbread · 26/09/2018 08:58

bean Conflicting opinions are to be expected though, no? She may be a perfectly pleasant person but that doesn’t mean she’s everyone’s cup of tea. Plus, even nice people have off days.

SistersOfPercy · 26/09/2018 09:28

DH ruined George Clark for me by pointing out he can't actually say the word 'architect'. Can't watch it now.

CoffeeShortbread · 26/09/2018 09:47

Didn’t George C get divorced because he basically knobbed his way around the UK making his TV progs? Sleazy git

BigusBumus · 26/09/2018 11:47

Some friends of mine were on DIY SIS about 15 years ago when it was hosted by Lowry Turner and it was completely different. 5 or 6 couples would write in explaining how crap a part of their home was and you would have to call and vote for which one you wanted to win the next week's makeover. So my friend's won, they basically doubled your budget for you. They got their bathroom done and it looked lovely after, although they didn't have a lot of say in what they got. Lowry is an absolute midget and had a massive black eye when I met her from her toddler whacking her with a toy. It didn't show on camera with the make up. I had just had DS1 and she was really lovely.

MorrisZapp · 26/09/2018 12:12

George Clarke nobbing his way! Lol!

I love how he always tells us how tall he is. We get it George, you're totes gorge and don't you bloody know it.

ihatethecold · 26/09/2018 13:18

He used to be quite good looking, now he just looks bloated.
