To think we're paying too much for our broadband/phone/tv package?

We're currently paying around £50 per month to Virgin for high speed(ish) broadband, landline and tv. We're out of contract, and also just about to move house, so we're thinking about options, but don't have a lot of time to research. I'm hoping I can pick up some quick pointers here.

We don't really use the landline any more, but I know it often just comes with the package, or at least it did last time we looked.

We don't really watch anything other than freeview channels, plus Netflix, which we pay an extra subscription for.

We sometimes use our Virgin Media Tivo box to record things, especially at Christmas or if there's a series we're following, but the interface is a bit sh*t and I know there are independent devices you can buy to do the same sort of thing.

Any advice on the optimum package for our needs?

No advice but I’m following - I’m in the same position but with Sky - but I’m paying £80 a month and it’s just too much.

That sounds about right for the lowest virgin package. However, I think you can ditch the TV (just use freeview instead) and phoneline and just get the Internet for about £29 a month? Alternatively if you are out of contract phone then up to negotiate.

I have nowtv and pay £30 a month for line rental, fibre broadband and the entertainment package (sky channels, all boxsets and catch up). Every few months I add sky movies for a month, watch the new releases, and then cancel it again.

I also only have a 30 day contract so can cancel it whenever I want.

We're paying £70 for the top TV bundle internet and Phone from virgin. Got rid of sports and movie channels, we got movie channels and entertainment package on a cheap black friday deal from now TV.

200mb internet and they upgraded the Tivo box to the newest one

I’m on an old deal with EE and pay less than £40 a month for landline, broadband and mobile!
Free view tv though only as don’t watch it much

When we moved house we got rid of the tv and phone part of virgin and just kept the broadband. It's still about £42 a month, but super fast and dh doesn't want to change it. Personally I'd be happy to go with cheaper broadband as well, but he's the programmer so I leave that decision to him Grin

I haven't really missed virgin tv at all. Occasionally miss tivo but I'm used to just watching stuff on catch up or Netflix/Amazon now. We've got a smart tv which definitely helps as all the apps are accessible on it. I literally never used our land line and didn't watch channels that weren't freeview anyway, so it made sense for us to get rid of those.

You can get recordable freeview boxes, which we did plan to get at first but haven't missed recording enough to bother.

We pay sixty with Virgin, gamers' broadband, top TV package and a second box, plus a landline we never use. Double check you can get virgin wherever you're moving too, not all areas have the cabling, no point getting into a new contract if that's the case

If Virgin don't pull their socks up we're switching to Sky. They've cancelled all the channels we watch.
