For me the more worrying thing in the article - if true - was the refusal of the security guards to intervene, or even help anyone else intervene.

The lady that did intervene was lucky they didn't try to restrain her Shock.

Obviously the poor babies mother could not have been at more fault, and the guards were not to blame for her initial idiocy (mild word).

I have a "dogs die in hot cars" sticker in my car window. Perhaps I should amend it to say "dogs and children die in hot cars" Confused

I wouldn’t do it but I wonder if the mum needs help . Very lucky someone noticed though.

People do do stuff like this though. A few years ago I was in a late supermarket car park and a wee girl aged 2 at the mosh dashed out in front of my car. I stopped and went over to her and she said she was looking for mummy. I took her inside the store and to the desk where they put an announcement over the tannoy. The mum nonchalantly wandered over with a full trolley and shouted at the girl saying she was told to stay where she was! It wasn’t a hot day but dangerous nonetheless.

Also recently a mum left her 3 year old in a parked car near school and went in to get her other kids. She was gone about 20/25 minutes. It’s a main road and the kid was hanging out of the window onto the road looking for her mummy. A friend ended up lifting her out the car and sitting at the pavement with her.

@Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar

The some of us part of my post wasn’t actually aimed at you, Dead.

In that case, my apologies - I really shouldn't have jumped to that assumption.

In any case, I'm as horrified about it as anyone. Even assuming the best interpretation: that she just phased out for 50 minutes, then intervention is still needed to make sure it doesn't happen again. She was lucky this time that someone intervened - lots of people wouldn't want to get involved or risk being shouted at in public. Personally, I'm hoping she's embarrassed, massively relieved and hugely grateful to the person who stepped in to save her child's life.

I wonder what the figure are on how many lives have been saved by putting the baby in the back seat compared to babies dying because they are forgotten because they're out of sight?

AFAIK it easily favours children rear facing and in the back seat. These deaths are horrible and tragic but still very rare. Car accidents, unfortunately, are not.

@WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream sorry to ask. But would you consider reporting your last post and having it removed. The one with the graphic details of the young boy who died.

As an earlier poster said, it’s a horrible story and she wishes she hadn’t read it. I have read articles around this subject and am really trying to forget them too - I didn’t need to read more about it on this thread.

I know I’m being silly as it’s a thread specifically on this topic, but I just feel like those details are maybe a little too much.

As for the person who said flying glass may injure the baby. I think that’s a very silly thing to say: car glass doesn’t work that way and you don’t crack the window over the baby! You go in at the window furthest from the baby.

Agreed, Queen. I would be very surprised if it were the other way round.
