To go back to the salon and ask for my hair to be re-done?

So I went into a National hair salon for a wash cut with a senior stylist a few days ago. I specifically asked for someone with knowledge of my hair type and was advised this Is the lady to help. I was specific in saying I need a cut that will work with me just washing it and letting it air dry. I don’t have time for drying it straight and styling daily. The stylist said she could do this and took a fair amount off the length- not a problem as I expected it. When she finished the cut she suggested blowing drying it straight as I’m in the saloon, I agreed. I didn’t get to see the cut and how it will dry naturally as a result and I’ve since washed and air dried it at home and it looks awful! Really ragged and like it’s a mop! Do I have grounds to go back and asked for it to be redone?

Shock

Could you brush it now, and would it look any better? I was going to suggest serum to smooth it but tbh it may be past that stage (sorry).

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 29/07/2018 21:58

If she couldn’t do it, she should have told you. I’d complain.

sue51 · 29/07/2018 21:59

I knew it would be Toni and Guy . They gave me a dreadful cut years ago and said it was because my hair was too thick and they ran out of time. They obviosly haven't improved. Complain and ask for a refund. I didn't then, now I'm older and wiser so would make a fuss.

DailyMailFail101 · 29/07/2018 22:06

I’m so sorry but that’s awful! Yes definitely go back, get a refund but don’t let that stylist touch your hair again. I would say exactly what you posted and then if this go badly show them this thread.

Harmonyrays · 29/07/2018 22:07

Ok I’ll go back tomorrow!

I would go somewhere else and bill them for the time wasted, as per your salary, and all the associated costs of a new cut with extra added for causing distress.
Sorry to say it but it looks awful.

CarrotandSwede · 29/07/2018 22:11

I knew it would be Toni and Guy, they are utter shit.

Aridane · 29/07/2018 22:12

Have you brushed it since leaving it to air dry?

Harmonyrays · 29/07/2018 22:14

If I brush it will just go frizzy and ten times worse. This is why I ask for a cut that would work with me just washing, brushing and air drying

I have curly hair OP, T&G butchered me years ago. It was long and had gone more wavy and I asked for some long layers and no short ones as it would curl more the shorter it got. He cut it should length and when it dried I looked like Mage Simpsons sisters. I feel for you, definitely complain. And loudly!

Blizzardagain · 29/07/2018 22:18

I'm assuming those who are asking you if you've brushed it know nothing about curly hair Hmm

Definitely complain op!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 29/07/2018 22:19

Not quite the point but DD got a special absorbent towel on amazon that she wraps her hair in to dry and it's amazing-so much less frizzy so might be worth a try.

NordicNobody · 29/07/2018 22:20

As someone with very curly hair you have my sympathies, good hairdressers are like bloody hens teeth! Definitely go and complain, it really does look like a mop!

Piggywaspushed · 29/07/2018 22:21

It is always a bad sign in a salon if you have curly hair and they get the tongs or straighteners out. That's a sure sign they have cocked up and they know it.

I have yet to find a salon that knows how to a)cut and b) dry my hair!!

I feel your pain : hope you get it sorted.

BewareOfDragons · 29/07/2018 22:22

So sorry, OP. They've really fucked up. I think she clearly knew it which is why she immediately straightened and dried your hair. Wow. I'd definitely go back and get your money back. Spend it someplace else!

centerparcs · 29/07/2018 22:23

Go back and post us the fix cut Grin

ElementalHalfLife · 29/07/2018 22:24

Don't let them talk you into letting them redo it, honestly that's a terrible cut. I think I could do better than that and I can't even cut my own fringe of dead straight hair in a line! Apart from the cut, you do have lovely hair though, I'm jealous.

Stay calm and firm, ask for your money back, tell them you don't feel confident they can make it good and would prefer to go somewhere else and keep repeating that.

MisstoMrs · 29/07/2018 22:31

I knew that would be Toni and Guy! I am so sorry OP.

I have frizzy hair that I routinely straighten and had a really lovely cut there...except they cut a section in the back one inch long to ‘give volume’. The result was a mini Mohawk on the back of my head for 6 months until it was long enough for me to cut all my hair to the same length.

Go back, ask them to put it right and explain to you what they are going to do before they do it. Perhaps ask them to come up with some suggestions you can go away and consider before having it cut. You paid, you’re not happy, they need to fix it.

Racecardriver · 29/07/2018 22:32

OP. Curly hair should only ever be cut dry. They clearly had no idea what they were doing.

gildashairflick · 29/07/2018 22:37

If you can get here in the future I'd highly recommend it

MuncheysMummy · 29/07/2018 22:40

Curly hair should never ever be cut dry wtf?! Why would you say that it should?! I’m a stylist with 16 yeas experience and trained specifically in cutting curly hair as a speciality. It’s always seen and assed dry then shampooed nd cut whilst soaking wet then appropriate products applied and dried and styled as the client will do at home.

MuncheysMummy · 29/07/2018 22:42

Oh and another thing Toni and Guy aren’t even officially recognised as qualified they do their own ‘in house training and diplomas’ at their academies rather than following the nationally recognised city and guilds training scheme like the rest of society

Harmonyrays · 29/07/2018 22:43

Thanks everyone. I would be prepared to go to that salon flick, looks worth it!
