AIBU for telling my kids that there's a prize worth £10 for the first one that gets to sleep on a Sunday night???

My kids have been a bit hyper all day. They still have 2 days left at school (probably the only school left in the UK - but they get 2 weeks iff in June and only 4 weeks in summer so, as a full time working parent who spent 2 weeks in Spain in June.. I'm not complaining .
Because they're doing my head in, I've told them there's a prize worth £10 for the first one who gets to sleep. One's 8 and the other is 5 and I said this at 19:10...
My DH says I'm mean and has prepared 2 £5 notes for the morning. I, on the other hand, was going to reward them with 2 school meals each 😂
Am I really that mean????

it's not necessarily about you being unreasonable here. It's the fact that you're making a rod for your own back. You use money as a reward. You'll be taking a second mortgage within a year.
. Are they going to expect a £5-10 note every time they do as they're asked and go to sleep at a reasonable time or at least just chill in bed.
I mean I'm a 1000 years old WinkGrinand I understand things are very different now but When I was put to bed I didn't have a choice. I had to stay there. Doing as I was told was expected. It wasn't rewarded.

£1 for going to sleep without me in the room.
£1 for staying there until 6.30 am.

That's the deal here - you've been had Grin

I would feel mean giving it to one, if they all made a good effort.
Then again it may be a receipe for disaster, they will be to excited to sleep and probably wake whoever is winning.

I cant blame you though. Schools open to long in the UK summer. Ours finished the 30th of June and the last few weeks were a nightmare to get them asleep even then.

It's not bribery it's positive reinforcement.
Give them both a tenner.
