To ask my neighbour to turn down his music

He's playing it pretty loud in the guarage while he's inside his house. Of course I can hear it in my house even with all the windows closed, as he's listening to it from inside his house. Trying to concentrate as I've got work to do and it's driving me mad.

It's just him there, so aibu to say turn it down, play it in the room you are in not outside or use headphones?

Yeah you'd be unreasonable to tell him, but not to go round, explain you're working and ask really politely and nicely if he'd mind turning it down a bit. If you're super nice about it he'll probably be more likely to do it too. Probably wouldn't suggest headphones. Sure he can figure that out himself.

I think there’s nothing wrong with just asking nicely, saying you can hear it from your house and would it be ok if he turned it down slightly?

I would do it face to face and not as a note or anything though - can be seen as a bit pass agg.

Agree with sparklesocks: face to face. Tone of voice can be misinterpreted in a note. Plus you can't make eye contact/smile in a note.
