You are breastfeeding at home and someone rings the doorbell...do you:
A) open the door with baby at your breast
B) ignore the door, even if it’s clear you’re at home
C) put baby down and leave to cry, cover up and answer
D) other (but please indicate wtf other is as I’m baffled)

Just gave my postman an eyeful as I panicked and didn’t know what else to do! Not sure what the correct breastfeeding/door answering etiquette is. 🙈

I've done a mix of both a and b. I used to struggle to the door, both dt's feeding with no spare hands to take a parcel.

When i had the dt's my friends postie husband(also a twin dad) told the others on my round to just ring the bell and open the door while calling out who it was and place parcels in the hall. Couriers seem to have followed on too.

We live in a quiet safe area so more than happy with this.

Dammit, forgot that I have a dog! Today he wasn’t home for once so it wasn’t an issue but lord knows what I’ll do when he is and this happens 🙈

A. But ive done both B and C too.
I figured he's seen much worse. Husband is a courier and a man once answered the door with a toilet brush in his hand...mid use 🤢

DidimusStench · 27/07/2018 22:13

Yep. Hounds totally throw a spanner into the works. Luckily mine isnt usually a runner but you can bet your bottom dollar that the one time I’m struggling to get to the door whilst feeding and I leave it open a tad too much, she’ll bolt.

I once forgot. Baby had been feeding and drifted off to sleep, slipping off the boob. Door bell rang, so I put the baby down and answered with one boob entirely out and no explanatory baby. Only realised after...

thisisannc · 27/07/2018 22:24

I don't have any children but, theoretically, A. I might well ignore the door if I wasn't in view of the caller, and wasn't expecting an important delivery.

LoveBiscuits · 28/07/2018 04:15

B it's my relax time!!

gunnyBear · 28/07/2018 04:41

A. B. is rude. C. is unnecessary.

Maybe A i) which is partially cover ie. a muslin over my boob.

Livinglavidal0ca · 28/07/2018 07:22

I did A lots of times!😂

SaveBandit · 28/07/2018 09:13

I did C once when I lived in a flat. Someone came to read the meter. Except I didn't cover up and invited the man in to the flat with my left boob fully out. He made very intense eye contact and I had no idea why and then when he heard DS crying he asked if he had interrupted me feeding. When I said yes he apologised and said "Sorry to disturb you both and also sorry to be the one to tell you, but your still...out." We laughed for a few minutes and when he came back a few months later he knocked and said "Ms. Bandit it's the meter reader, are you decent?"
