The 80's was by far the best decade for music and movies

If you add in the late 70's and early 90's, it gets even better. Maybe I'm being partial but I didn't grow up in the West and I was 9 when the 80's ended so I doubt it. Even movies had great music back then : Terminator , The Thing, Back to the Future...Avengers theme is pretty sweet but it's a rarity these days. The only things I think got better with the 90's were TV shows and cartoon movies, those are definitely better. You can still find good indy music and shows because of youtube and the internet in general (Netflix, Amazon), but everything else mainstream is low quality AF. And don't even get me started with all the shit remakes...

I had this convo with my dm this morning. I said '80s music was best and she almost choked at the thought Shock

I wasn't alive but watching 80s movies... they're fun but also quite shit

80s music, films, hair, make-up and fashion.............. the BEST era . (I was a teenager)

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 26/07/2018 23:23

Totally agree! I was born in ‘86 so really the 90’s was my playground however I very much prefer the 80’s music and movies. (With the exceptions of home alone 1 and 2) Grin

Was a teenager during the 80's
Trying my best to look like a cross between madonna and Bananarama with blue mascara.
Posters of kagagoogoo and wham on my wall. Watching the Breakfast club and st Elmos fire while eating jaw breaker sweets.
Good times

Labyrinth 😍😍

BBTHREE76 · 26/07/2018 23:33

Agree! Nothing else to be said 👍🏻

FrankiesKnuckle · 26/07/2018 23:33

80s films had such a feel.

Pretty in pink
Breakfast club
Goonies
Top gun
Dirty dancing
Big
E.T.

But, 90s music for me was defining.
I remember when i first heard supersonic by oasis - shivers still now.

I’m guessing you are all too young to remember the 60’s then...!

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2018 23:36

I loved the 80s. I remember a lot of clubbing even before I was officially old enough to go. Memories of a carefree time.

SandyY2K · 26/07/2018 23:37

I agree it was the best for music. Which my teens label as "The olden days"

bluemascara · 26/07/2018 23:40

Yanbu
Music is pure shite these days

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 26/07/2018 23:40

I don’t remember the 60’s (because I didn’t live them) but I do like a lot of 60’s music. I haven’t seen many 60’s films or shows (other than some westerns-thanks dad).

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 26/07/2018 23:41

My son (13) also agrees the 80’s were the best for music.
