Honestly- the slogan thing is so cringe

They were packaged to look like plain pants

Where did you buy them? They look a bit worn, sort of gone through the washer bobbly, and the print isn't quite fully adhered. I know sometimes in clothes shops the staff will find someone has ditched their own knickers/t-shirt/whatever and swapped for a packet-fresh garment.

I think you're fine to return them anyway. If the design wasn't clear from the way they were packed.

They were worn once- I only noticed the text as it was in the hamper to wash.
