To have just bought a 15ft pool?

I can't decide if it's a wise move or I am a complete idiot.

I've not told my DP yet but tbf we don't live together so it's only his problem when I ask him to help me put it together.

I should say I do have a garden, it's not like that Lad bible video and I'm putting it in my front room Grin

So good or bad idea?

This is inspiring. I didn't know you could just buy a pool. Am now googling.

Plughole3 · 24/07/2018 23:46

Can someone post a link to their pool?

frasier · 24/07/2018 23:52

Best purchase we’ve ever made, easy to filter & keep clean, happy kids (and happy me!).

iggleypiggly · 24/07/2018 23:53

And my 3 cats haven’t drowned.. added bonus! Smile

ItWillAllBeOkayInTheEnd · 24/07/2018 23:56

I have one and it's amazing. It takes about a day to fill and another day to heat. The kids are in it 3 times a day.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/07/2018 23:57

Got one. And for the first time in years, because we knew were going to be spending a lot of the summer abroad where of course the weather was going to be better, we decided not to put it up this year ☹️

Be prepared for it to be coooold. Put some insulating material underneath to prevent heat loss. We use carpet underlay. Invest in a thermal cover if you haven’t already got one, it looks like a big piece of bubble wrap but works wonders.

You will have a giant yellow crop circle in your garden when you eventually take it down but by next year the grass will have recovered and be good as new.

Hope the weather lasts now! 😁

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/07/2018 00:00

Ooh, and it is absolutely crucial to put it on a level surface. We didn’t with our first one and it gently rolled over and emptied itself one night!

MadMaryBoddington · 25/07/2018 00:00

The hideous stinking slimy mess is true. Clients of mine had one last year and that was the result. The grass is still not back to normal a year on.

MadMaryBoddington · 25/07/2018 00:02

Ooh maybe Laiste is my client! Shock

We've had a 12' round one for years, but decided to upgrade to a framed 4 metre one too. Bought new filter pump and cover, and the total was about £150.

No heater, but all the kids wear wetsuits, and can stay in for ages before getting too cold. We have a steady procession of Daughter's school friends eager to play in it.

All told both pools have been a roaring success, but the upgrade was really worth it, and like others have said, you only really have to fill it once, and with careful looking after will stay fine all through the summer.

Albeit only half full - and I think OP’s is more serious.
