me and ds were in town today and almost got 'skated' or rolled into several times!!
i just don't think they should be used in a very busy town centre during half-term!

I hate roller blades, roller skates, skinny little scotters, skateboards, all sorts of things. I told you, I'm a miserable old witch ............but I am liking the pin idea

Gingermonkey · 01/06/2007 11:21

scooters, not scotters - silly monkey!!!

sauce · 01/06/2007 11:27

Do they work on concrete? you know, pavement? (yes, I know I'm really out of it, but what do you expect from someone who lives in the middle of nowhere?)

Eleusis · 01/06/2007 11:38

The wheels are quite small so they require a pretty smooth surface... but they probably wear down faster on pavement.

I don't mind roller blades so much. I find the people who wear them have an idea of how to control them. ALso, roller blades have a break. But, full speed through Tescos would probably bother me.

I hate skateboards too. Wheelies are probably good training for those who aspire to become skateboard hoodlums.

LOL to think of my little dd as a hoodlum! A pink-wearing hoodlum.

sauce · 01/06/2007 12:32

Anyway, just ordered a pair for her. Now worrying she'll wear them once & then shove them to the back of the cupboard. Kids!

sauce · 01/06/2007 12:33

...and also bought some knee & elbow pads. She can wear her bike helmet.

Eleusis · 01/06/2007 12:38

OMG, are heely kids supposed to wear helmets? I think it's the people around them who need helmets.

Eleusis · 01/06/2007 12:39

That' it, I'm off to ebay to find sword and sheild for DD so she can protect herself in Tesco.

sauce · 01/06/2007 12:49

Well the website highly recommended helmets, kneepads, etc. She'll look a bit ridiculous but at least I won't have to worry as much about rushing down to A&E with her. (Argh! The guilt!)

when i first saw a lad in some heelies i thought they looked great fun, but a few weeks later im starting to really not like them.

ive nearly been rolled into several times, as has little dd. one minute you're trying to push your way through a crowd, the next you're throwing yourself out of the way, there's no warning whatsoever!

at least if i saw a kid in rollerblades coming i would have chance to avoid.

and of course rollerblades/rollerboots/skateboards wouldn't be allowed in a shopping centre, but with these things you can't tell they're wearing them. they are a pain in the butt.

ds wants a pair, very badly. he's getting rollerblades instead, with full kit. he has no co-ordination whatsoever.

unfortunately i may well have one very disappointed little boy on my hands as im sure all his friends will be wearing them!

as a kid im sure i would have loved them though!
