To be traumatised at having a bloody great hair on chin!

Seriously it's at least an inch long. I've shaved the f$$$$r off now but what if it comes back? What if there's more? What does it mean? I don't know anyone who has chin hair!!! Am still dealing with hitting forty and being a size sixteen, am not psychologically ready to be the bearded lady as well!!!

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 23/07/2018 21:53

Mine appeared the minute I turned 30. I pluck the foot-long bastard every time I feel it. Now it's started sneaking through in GREY.

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 23/07/2018 21:53

I get my full face and neck threaded.

Just got it done today - I can feel confident for the next 3 days or so

mineofuselessinformation · 23/07/2018 21:54

Yep, sorry, it's a sign of getting a bit older.
Mine were as a result of having hormone therapy for endometriosis.
It's annoying when you can see and feel the bastards but you can't get hold of them with the tweezers to pluck than out!

QuitMoaning · 23/07/2018 22:00

Chin hairs are the fastest growing thing in the world. Faster than bamboo.
I spend hours being through and then the next day there is another one, where did that come from?

didyouseetheflaresinthesky · 23/07/2018 22:02

Definitely pluck it. It grows back stubbly if you shave it. And plucking is really satisfying. I have a row of 4 on my chin, dead straight line and all sprout together so I can pull them all one after the other. It's the highlight of my day.

bellsbuss · 23/07/2018 22:06

Been getting them since my 20's on chin and neck, they are like wire. After the birth of my 3rd child I was in hospital for a few days and didn't have my tweezers, my sister had to bring me a pair in as I had loads start sprouting. She said I would have resembled a Yeti if they had been left much longer

thebewilderness · 23/07/2018 22:07

The hormone shift takes us in different directions.
Some get more hair in odd places and some of us lose our hair on our legs and pits as well as thinning head hair.

Curious2468 · 23/07/2018 22:08

I have the odd grey pube and am only mid 30’s. Have way too much facial hair too. I have pcos so I blame it all on my hormones

VanillaSugar · 23/07/2018 22:10

What happens when we're old and in a care home? Will people come and pluck our chins for us? I do worry about this, you know.

littlemisscomper · 23/07/2018 22:10

I'm 29 and just this year, Oh My God have I been getting hairier! I've been having my lip waxed for the past 10 years but the last 12 months my general furriness has exploded. Now I have nostril hair protruding out, general peach fuzz all over my face and to my horror I discovered a full on whisker sprouting from one boob a month or 2 back! I think my chin is still ok but now I'm scared to even check...

I wouldn't mind so much but my head hair is thinning and going grey, which seems very unfair! Angry

NoParticularPattern · 23/07/2018 22:12

I have one weirdly fine hair on my back that obviously never got the memo about only growing to a certain length. It just keeps growing! And by the time I notice it it’s about two inches long (I shit you not) but the worst bit is that I can’t actuallt reach it so I have to ask DH to pull it out for me. I’d be horrified if it was with like the ones I get on my chin (definitely hormonal as they erupt in tandem with the hormonal spots!), but thankfully it’s just a normal downy back hair that gets out of hand!

LadyRussell · 23/07/2018 22:13

Getting older is a PITA but also a privilege not afforded to all.

Rebecca36 · 23/07/2018 22:18

Good advice above. Pluck or have chin wax.

sue51 · 23/07/2018 22:19

I use a springy thing that works like threading. It's a bit fiddly at first but once you get the hang of it, it's easy and gets all the little moustache and chin hairs.

BaronessBlonde · 23/07/2018 22:20

I have one in the middle of one eyebrow. T'is like barbed wire

Oh but the satisfaction when it's long enough to luck.

Peartree17 · 23/07/2018 22:21

OP, how did you not know about facial hair? Have you never looked at another woman in real life? I pluck my chin hair, wax/thread my upper lip and one fine day, I'll be getting laser treatment to deal with it more permanently. Last week, I saw a woman in her seventies who had a, like, hamster growing on her upper lip. Seriously, she could have done a full General Haig. I have told my husband to shoot me in the head if I let that happen. And he has said he will.

Joinourclub · 23/07/2018 22:21

If you confess about your chin hair to your friends, they will confess right back, and you’ll find out that you do in fact know lots of women with chin hairs.

apintofwhine · 23/07/2018 22:22

I would like my eyelashes would grow to the thick luxurious standards of my chin hair

Tigger365 · 23/07/2018 22:27

I’ve been full on shaving since I was about 16. Perks of PCOS. It’s a bit of a fucker.

wibblywobblyfish · 23/07/2018 22:36

I have one that grows through a small mole on my cheek. It is thick and black and so satisfying when I can get it with the tweezers. One glorious occasion it became ingrown and when I dug the fucker out it was all twirly, about 1cm long and it was quite crusty. It's like having a permanent source of entertainment and I think I would miss it if it ever stopped growing.

Bluelonerose · 23/07/2018 22:38

I swear I can grow a better beard than dh.
I have my whole face threaded once every 3 weeks but I swear by the time I get back from the salon they have all regrouped and sprouted again. Angry

I hate being out and just feeling one and wondering where the fuck it came from as it wasn't their 10 minutes ago but it 4foot long and curly like a pube Shock

ChinkChink · 23/07/2018 22:40

Yeah why can't they harness this power of the chin hair and transplant it to head hair? Extensions businesses gone in a flash.

MrsKiplin · 23/07/2018 22:57

Peartree17 you're obviously all too good at removing them. I genuinely just associated it with elderly women.

OP posts:
annandale · 23/07/2018 22:59

I work with older ladies in hospital and many of them become luxuriantly hairy during their admissions. Honestly, it looks quite nice. I'm still not prepared to let it happen though [flashes Lumea defiantly]
