Seriously it's at least an inch long. I've shaved the f$$$$r off now but what if it comes back? What if there's more? What does it mean? I don't know anyone who has chin hair!!! Am still dealing with hitting forty and being a size sixteen, am not psychologically ready to be the bearded lady as well!!!

How have you lived to 40 without getting chin hair?

Got my first before 16

Electrolysis is the answer.

LuluJakey1 · 23/07/2018 21:21

I found one growing out of the middle of my forhead- about an inch long and like a bristle. DH 'hadn't noticed it'. I plucked it and it didn't come back. I get a few chin hairs which I pluck. I am sure they are hormonal as they appear in a cycle. Am 39 (just......I keep saying I am 38 but I'm not Sad )

iggleypiggly · 23/07/2018 21:23

I’ve had my chin an lip waxed monthly sine I was 26, do not shave it!!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 23/07/2018 21:24

Chin hairs, tache hairs…
Gotta love getting older.
I have an epilator for most of mine.

Cleanermaidcook · 23/07/2018 21:24

Welcome welcome, grab a wax strip and have a seat....
Soon the blighters will spread to your upper lip, full beard and sideburns. Think of the fun you can have deciding on wax strips, razors or veet while you buy your tenna ladies.
Ain't getting older grand... 😂

ClarkWGriswold · 23/07/2018 21:24

The best mirror to see then in is the passenger side vanity mirror in the car in sunlight.

Absolutely this but prepare to be horrified! My favourite thing to do is attack my chin (and neck Blush ) while I'm waiting in the car to pick up DC from school Grin

annandale · 23/07/2018 21:28

I shave my face twice a day. Stopped being able to keep up with plucking them aged around 46.

However I have spent ds's inheritance on a Phillips Lumea top of the range turbo injection model, and I think there is a difference only 2 treatments in (fortnightly zapping).

katseyes7 · 23/07/2018 21:28

When my mother was in her 80s she had a moustache and beard to rival Rolf Harris. Despite her being convinced she looked like Joan Collins. l have a 10 x magnifying mirror on the bathroom windowsill where the light is harsh, along with a small epilator and tweezers. And l inspect daily!

formerbabe · 23/07/2018 21:30

Oh God, don't shave! Wax it or get it threaded...

katseyes7 · 23/07/2018 21:31

One of the girls l worked with once sent me a text asking if l had any wax strips, and if l had, please could l bring them into work for her. Apparently her boyfriend had been staring at her while they were queueing in a shop, and he'd said "you know, not many lasses can carry a tache, but you can....."
She texted me saying "he thinks l look like Burt Reynolds".
And she was only in her 20s....

One? I have a Forrest

nocoolnamesleft · 23/07/2018 21:33

Why do you think tweezers were invented?

Paperdolly · 23/07/2018 21:37

I often find mine when I run the tips of my fingers over my face and neck. I love to have a go at trying to get them between the tips of my fingers and tug them out. Especially in a motorway traffic jam; it makes the time go quicker. Their my thinking time play things! 😂

ResistanceIsNecessary · 23/07/2018 21:38

Welcome to getting older.

You need a good quality pair of tweezers, a magnifying mirror and a decent light. Regularly.

Fickleflock · 23/07/2018 21:38

You’ve found one chin hair at the age of 40....off to the circus with you Hmm

Bumbungo · 23/07/2018 21:43

Your future life is set to be rather alarming.

Suggestion: good tweezers and magnifiying mirror.

ChristmasTablecloth · 23/07/2018 21:45

I actually have trouble believing this op is genuine. How can a 40 year old woman not know about facial hair on women, even if they haven't had it themselves? Doesn't ring true.

1CantPickAName · 23/07/2018 21:45

In my early 20’s I started growing one next to my mouth, one on my temple and one in the middle of my throat! Very unnerving as I’d only notice them when they were about an inch long. I swear they just sprung up overnight.

I recently turned 40 and while I was sat in my car with the sun on my face, I spotted two clumps of tiny black hairs on either side of my upper lip (in the sun visor mirror). I can’t believe I’m growing a tache!!! I cannot see the hairs at any other time, and I have looked!!! I started a whatsapp group looking for support and advice from my other 40yo friends and I was shocked to be told by more than 1 of them that they regularly bleach. I didn’t know! One of my best friends told me she has been bleaching her upper lip since her late teens, I had no idea

ChinkChink · 23/07/2018 21:48

Why all the shave hate?

Why do you think men look younger for longer? Shaving exfoliates their facial skin every day.

I have a Laxcare female shaver with rotary heads. Ten seconds every day and job's a good 'un.

Waltzingmatilda65 · 23/07/2018 21:49

Wait until your 50 OP they breed and sprout up from 0-60 so bloody fast.

TheKnackeredChef · 23/07/2018 21:50

Some of mine have started to go grey. So, y'know, swings and roundabouts.

Bumbungo · 23/07/2018 21:51

Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin....

Dodie66 · 23/07/2018 21:51

Yes loads of chin hairs. I love plucking them out 🙂
I had more hairs on my chin but hardly any hair on my legs now. It’s sprouting on my chin instead LOL

LadyRussell · 23/07/2018 21:52

I have a couple of friends who have PSO and shave their chins and the 5 o clock shadow on a lady under 80 isn’t a great look.

EdWinchester · 23/07/2018 21:52

Have you no elderly female relatives?

Women's faces get hairy. This should not be a revelation. The risk increases with obesity.

I am 47 and until recently (and my Lumea) I had one black hair under my chin that would reappear with annoying regularity after plucking.
