Gorgeous dress OP. It’s a good job your sister didn’t come to my wedding - she would have been horrified. I didn’t go as far as having a black dress myself, but my bridesmaids did and they all looked great.

I love that Dress Flowers

Harpingon · 23/07/2018 20:54

Bloody gorgeous. I love it OP. Wish you well to wear it.

XingMing · 23/07/2018 21:11

I just wore a sold black dress to a wedding on Saturday, and was complimented on it. With bright accesories though.

XingMing · 23/07/2018 21:12

Solid............. duh

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 23/07/2018 21:13

Love this dress! Absolutely fine for a wedding

TornFromTheInside · 23/07/2018 21:15

It's lovely. Wear it. It's neither too flashy, nor too simple. Understated I'd say.

Mrsmadevans · 23/07/2018 21:26

Beautiful dress you will look stunning.

HannahnotAgnes · 23/07/2018 21:51

Gorgeous dress! Love it!

Fadingmemory · 23/07/2018 22:08

Lovely dress for a wedding guest!

Dorsetdays · 23/07/2018 22:10

It’s perfect for a wedding...though I would say that as I wore the exact same dress to a wedding (and several times since)!

Had loads of lovely comments whenever I’ve worn it as I’m sure you will!

AlpacaLypse · 23/07/2018 22:26

I rather like that. Do it. And ignore silly comments.

AlmostPerfect1955 · 23/07/2018 22:30

Perfect wedding guest dress.

lborgia · 23/07/2018 22:55

I went to a wedding 15 years ago in a black dress. Didn’ even know about the superstition and wore it with a pale pink pashmina (15 years ago remember!), handbag, and shoes.. it was one of my most successful outfits ever, and I felt terrible all day because DB at the time looked horrified when he saw me on the morning. When I saw photos recently though, it looked no different to other people in dark dresses of different colours.

Sorry, rambling, but yours is a beautiful dress, and you will look beautiful (and no danger of looking like a bride!). Flowers

lborgia · 23/07/2018 22:56

Dorsetdays - just seen your post, makes any other comments redundant, job done!

intheparcark · 23/07/2018 22:56

It's a really nice dress and perfectly fine to wear to a wedding.

Pearlgrey1 · 24/07/2018 17:24

Can’t see the issue. Looks perfectly acceptable

ThisMightAlsoInterestYou · 24/07/2018 17:40

Love it. Add lilac shoes and matching bag and perhaps a matching bolero or something. Looks fab, you will look lovely. Enjoy

Teacher22 · 24/07/2018 17:54

The dress is fine. Victoria Beckham wore a dark navy dress which looked black to Meghan and Harry's wedding.

I have a posh frock I am wearing to a wedding soon which is navy lace over a black underdress. I am teaming it with a black jacket, shoes and bag. (I know! Matchy, matchy but I'm old). I ran the outfit past my daughter who's 27 and she said it was fine and she is the fashion police in our family. I think it looks chic.

Also, everywhere is selling black fascinators at the moment so I think that's a clue.

Janus · 24/07/2018 17:54

I wore the same one they made last year (very similar, flowers on the bottom) to a wedding last year. Other than it being the hottest day of the year and me slightly melting (!) it was a lovely dress and I think I looked absolutely fine. A lady to my wedding wore a full on black dress, she was probably the best dressed there (including me 😂😂). I really don’t think anyone bats an eyelid at a black dress at a wedding any more.

welshmist · 24/07/2018 17:59

It is stunning I love Ted Baker. Just bought something for a christening.

TheSecondMrsAshwell · 24/07/2018 18:03

You should have sent back a pikkie of a long white dress, preferably in lace or silk and asked if that was better!
