Do you never wear socks?!

alwaysthepessimist · 23/07/2018 13:10

oh I LOVE socks!! They are my most favourite thing ever!

CheshireChat · 23/07/2018 13:12

Why didn't they just give you £5, but for everything?

How can you not wear socks ever? What happens when you wear boots?!

Heratnumber7 · 23/07/2018 13:13

I'll have your socks! Are they stripey?

HoneyDragon · 23/07/2018 13:16

I wear boots without socks quite often

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 23/07/2018 13:16

Fab, that's a present for someone that you don't have to spend the money on, DC or DPs next batch of socks sorted on the house. Cheers m&s for a tenner freed up to treat yourself with.

Although having said that, it's a bit inspiring. Tights, undies, accessories & toiletries all make nicer treats. I got a tights voucher last time & as a full time skirt & dress wearer it was a very good treat! Can appreciate some one else might be less please though.

Schroedingerscatagain · 23/07/2018 13:16

Strange, I got a voucher for floral toiletries up to £7.50 in value last week for mineGrindh got a 20% if clothing and handbags this week for hisConfused

Intheprimeoflime · 23/07/2018 13:16

I wear skirts /dresses so I'm either bare legged or with tights. I can't wear trousers or jeans just too uncomfortable for me! I wear socks when hiking though but I have enough to do the 2 times we go hiking a year.

I guess it's not that I NEVER EVER WEAR SOCKS it's more that... Why couldn't it have been for wine? Lol!

*uninspiring
** less pleased though. Bloody phone!

HoneyDragon · 23/07/2018 13:18

Sparks is the weirdest loyalty card going.

My favourite exclusive offer was the opportunity to purchase a meal deal. For £3.00 more than the cost of the meal deal. Grin I was tempted to go and purchase it and see what happened.

Intheprimeoflime · 23/07/2018 13:19

Dshathaway I could not love your name more! It is uninspiring isn't it?

Also wouldn't they send me a treat based on my non sock buying habits? Maybe they thought "omg she's never bought socks! We must send her a voucher immediately!"

Also a tights voucher would have been perfect! Still boring as arse but I always need tights!

It came in such a lovely envelope I got my hopes up only to find.... SOCKS

Buy socks, return them and get a £10 credit voucher, buy something else.

BarbaraofSevillle · 23/07/2018 13:36

I've never had a birthday present from Sparks.

It's my birthday in September so I if I don't get one, I may end up posting an AIBU - AIBU to be upset that I didn't get a birthday present from Sparks?

However, if it is based on purchase history, mine will be for a tenner's worth of reductions from the food hall as that's what I buy most of.

frazzled3ds · 23/07/2018 13:36

I've just had one of these in the post too! After smirking at the absurdity of it, I then realised that I could probably do with some new socks once the weather turns again .... I'll be interested to see how many I can get for £10 though ;)

dizzydaisies · 23/07/2018 13:38

Where are my socks?! It was my birthday last week, I've got a gazillion-million points on my card, and nothing.

Most pointless loyalty scheme ever!

Didiusfalco · 23/07/2018 13:43

I got a box of chocolates up to £6 for mine. It’s obviously a bit random isn’t it? Socks aren’t particularly a treat so that’s a little strange.

BarbaraofSevillle · 23/07/2018 13:49

This is what it says about qualifying for a birthday gift:

'Your benefits will increase, by increasing the number of sparks you earn. With an increase, you may qualify for a birthday treat (if you also provided a valid email address and date of birth) and exclusive access to sale previews and new collections. Timing and value of all benefits at the discretion of M&S'

How many Sparks do you have OP? I have 37090 for what it's worth. Not quite a gazillion-million, so I suspect there will be no birthday socks or reduced price ready meals coming my way come September.

Eveforever · 23/07/2018 14:09

I'm jealous, typically I have to buy my own birthday presents. They tend to be really nice though!

Intheprimeoflime · 23/07/2018 14:09

I have no idea how many sparks I have! Lol. But I have not earned them through my sock purchases.

I didn’t get a present last mo th when it was my birthday

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/07/2018 14:12

Buy men's socks as a present for DH / DDad / DBro then use the money you would have spent on their present to buy yourself a treat.

Iamtheresurrection · 23/07/2018 14:18

My DM gets birthday vouchers for cash amounts but she also has a credit card. I’ve never had a birthday gift.

Intheprimeoflime · 23/07/2018 16:00

This is my first year of birthday gift, and boy oh boy was it worth the wait! Haha
