Waiting for DHs vasectomy and using condoms. It slipped off. We have a 7 week old so I'm very fertile apparently. Such a stupid mistake but I need to known if DH can go for the morning after pill for me tomorrow or if I have to go myself. Does anyone know pleade

He won't be able to I'm afraid. They need to make sure it's suitable for you, and that you're taking it willingly /knowingly. It would be very dodgy for some women to be at the mercy of the bloke providing emergency contraception

hibbledibble · 23/07/2018 00:12

No, as the pharmacist needs to speak to you. Your husband is not the patient in this situation.

FissionChips · 23/07/2018 00:14

You have to go. When I went to boots for it the pharmacist asked me if I was a prostitute or took part in orgies Hmm.

Shoppingwithmother · 23/07/2018 00:15

You have to go and you have to take the pill there in front of them

You can fill in a questionnaire thing on Lloyd’s Pharmacy, pay, and he should be able to collect at a branch

Witsendmummy · 23/07/2018 00:22

Sad fuck.

My friends husband has got it for her

noselimit · 23/07/2018 00:24

You could phone your GP and request a prescription, that way your DH could collect it for you?

C2205 · 23/07/2018 00:26

Ring your GP or Pharmacist. They'll be able to tell you x

Witsendmummy · 23/07/2018 00:27

I was thinking That about the go not sure if they will prescribe over the phone though and it's more the bloody shame of needing it!Blush

You can phone the pharmacy Nd arrange to go. It doesn't take long to answer the questions and sign the forms.

milkysmum · 23/07/2018 00:31

Is there a reason you can't go yourself to get it?

Witsendmummy · 23/07/2018 00:33

I'm just really embarrassed and didn't want to go for it with a toddler and 7 week old in tow

I tried to send my OH as I was working nights and wouldn’t be able to get there when it was open( over Xmas) and they wouldn’t let him get it for me . I had to go but couldn’t get there until just within the max time frame . Luckily it still worked!

fieryginger · 23/07/2018 00:37

You could phone your local pharmacy and explain, answer any questions they have and send DH in to collect it.

AdelesBeard · 23/07/2018 00:48

I did the same with a toddler and new born. Don't be ashamed OP - front it out and go get it - they wont bat an eyelid.

BoomBoomsCousin · 23/07/2018 00:56

There really should be no shame about trying to be responsible about family planning when you’ve had a contraceptive failure with condoms. That’s pretty much the epitome of sensible action.

I can see the hassle with taking a toddler, especially if s/he’s at the point where they are likely to repeat things at inopportune moments! But it’s probably the best way - I’m assuming if your DH is going to pick it up but can’t look after your toddler while you pick it up, that means he’s going to do it on the way to or from something and get it back to you later in the day. Really, though, you should take it as soon as possible. Effectiveness decreases the longer you wait.

memaymamo · 23/07/2018 01:20

Put on your brazen face and remember they've seen MUCH worse than a responsible woman who took sensible precautions.

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/07/2018 01:23

Well can’t you leave the toddler and baby at home with DH while you pop to the pharmacy?

Witsendmummy · 23/07/2018 01:26

He will be at work we was going to pop before or after to get it for me. If doctors will prescribe over the phone I'll do it that way if not I'll suck it up and go in!

You could call your GP surgery and speak to the receptionist and get a call back from your GP and I’m sure you can get a prescription then anybody can collect it as long as they sign it.

Tinkety · 23/07/2018 02:01

You have to go and you have to take the pill there in front of them

I’ve needed it twice & have never had to take it in front of the pharmacist, Boots & an independent both let me leave with it

avamiah · 23/07/2018 02:12

Tinkety,
Yes your right about Boots but I don’t know if that’s still the same.
I know I have bought it from there a couple of years ago and it was really expensive, about £28.
