Little Mix

AIBU to think that when you being physically and verbally abused over a period of time at a Little Mix concert, call for security support, they come and they tell you they can't do anything as they can't get you out. Does this country never learn, large crowds must be managed, particularly when people have too much alcohol.

I wondered what on earth Little Mix had done. I am surprised alcohol is served at their concerts, I assumed their audience was mostly pre-teen.

aleC4 · 21/07/2018 22:45

I guess everyone must have different experiences.
Someone mentioned Derby?
I was at the Little Mix concert in Derby with my 11 year old and was pleasantly surprised by the lack of trouble. I'm guessing by the mention of Derby others had different experiences.
Personally I would never try to get near the front with a child but that's my personal view. I don't like to feel squashed.
We were about three quarters back. Although we didn't have a great view we had the screens and my dd had a fabulous time. I have commented to many people on how chilled and family friendly it was.
We had loads of room around us and dd and I were able to dance around, relax and enjoy ourselves without feeling remotely intimidated.

CocoaGin70 · 21/07/2018 22:47

We nearly left a Coldplay concert in Cardiff due to the aggro in the crowd. The drinking was insane, why would someone spend the best part of £80 on a ticket and then be so pissed you have no idea where you are and what you are doing. I don't agree with alcohol being served especially when kids are allowed in. It was awful and put me off standing for life.

BakedBeans47 · 21/07/2018 22:48

We went to see lady gaga a few years ago and there were 2 completely drunk guys behaving disgracefully next to a woman and young girl. Security did fuck all and it took 2 concert goers to basically threaten them and tell them to fuck off before they did.

I agree on drinking at gigs I like a good drink but I never drink at concerts, it never ceases to amaze me how wrecked some people get and how badly they behave, ffs the tickets cost a fortune, why act like that

I thought the thread was going to be about LM splitting up Confused

Drunks are dicks.

Hatesummer
Now you know how asylum seekers and refugees feel fleeing war torn countries

You win the most stupid comment of the year comment for that one. Well done 👍

aleC4 · 21/07/2018 22:51

I agree with pp - how anyone could afford to get drunk is beyond me!

aleC4 · 21/07/2018 22:53

I didn't see anyone drunk where we were in Derby. I'm sure people were but we kept quite well back and we're just surrounded by lots of children and their families having a good time. It was a lovely atmosphere.

Not1SuperMum · 21/07/2018 22:53

Lincoln. But it sounds like it's a common theme.

Not1SuperMum · 21/07/2018 22:57

It was Lincoln. I think we were very unfortunate, ending up near to people who would go to any lengths to get us out and them into the front. Interestingly that when statements were taken, security had to leave to control fights and made the decision to close the bars early.

Cocoagin the gig I'm talking about was in Cardiff too! But not the same one you mean.

Itsveryhard · 21/07/2018 23:00

I also find it unacceptable but that young children are subjected to unsuitable lyrics from bloody Little Mix!

I've heard so many complaints about Little Mix concerts I'm surprised people still go.

A FB acquaintance went to a gig a couple of weeks ago (not Little Mix, a bit heavier) and raved about what a fabulous time she had and how she got near to the front. Then remarked 'I stink of piss but what a night!'
Sorry, I don't see the connection between great night and piss.
The whole gig experience sounds gross.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/07/2018 23:13

I was at a LM concert last year with my DD, bar was also open. No trouble that I saw, security patrolled the concert but we did stay near the edge/back so it wasn't crowded. No way would I try to get near the front tbh!

Amanduh · 21/07/2018 23:20

My cousin and auntie were at Lincoln and their bars definitely didn’t close Confused however idiots are idiots. Why wouldn’t they serve alcohol? Some weird comments from pp’s.

Exactly.. the bars were open until the end?! However, they did say there was a family arguing with another family about moving across and how funny it was because one family went mad and kicked off at the barrier, wonder if OP’s post was actually about their argument with another family 😂

Interestingly we have been back to Manchester Arena twice since we were there last May and I have noticed a massive decrease last week on those drinking beer. A lot had soft drinks.
You know being that pissed drunk and having to get out in an emergency don't go together.

Cleaningthefours · 22/07/2018 09:18

Sounds like it was just you OP.

BitchQueen90 · 22/07/2018 14:35

@aleC4 I was at the Derby one near the front. There was a very drunk man who got into an argument with a woman who he thought had pushed in and he was removed by security guards.

I really don't think alcohol should be available at those type of concerts as lots of kids go.
