To wonder if you can know who has viewed your social media accounts?

Light hearted I promise.

Saw someone I follow tweet "i can see you enjoying your stalking session 😂" which has now got me wondering if you can work out who is viewing your profiles? 🧐

I asked DH and he doesn't think it would be allowed by social media platforms but after recent events I wouldn't be surprised. Only way we think might be possible would be if you could see people's IP addresses or rough location of who views your profile.

I'm not interested in working out precisely if this is possible or how to do it but rather just wondered if my location would be available to anyone due to social media?

Then again we also wondered if the other possibility was that, the "stalker" had liked a load of their past tweets?

Not that I know of?

SugarIsAmazing · 21/07/2018 20:15

Who cares who sees?

TheresaMayIsATory · 21/07/2018 20:17

Public posts are there to be seen.

PickleJuice · 21/07/2018 20:23

Oooh interesting. A few years ago I used to enjoy a regular nose at the Twitter page of an exes new girlfriend only because her life looked amazing and I was bored Grin .
She posted almost the exact same tweet and I never looked again Blush just in case. But I did wonder if it was even possible that she could've meant me.

Rach5ll · 21/07/2018 20:46

If you look someone up, you come up on their 'person you might know feed'

LunaAzul · 21/07/2018 20:48

Maybe someone accidentally “liked” something so the person knew they were being nosed at.

Annabelle4 · 21/07/2018 20:48

Not tweets, but you can see who has seen your Instagram stories.

JacquesHammer · 21/07/2018 20:52

If you look someone up, you come up on their 'person you might know feed‘

That’s a myth. Friend suggestions on FB are worked out on connections, locations etc.

I suspect on Twitter the “stalker” in question accidentally liked a tweet/followed them. As long as you don’t accidentally interact you’re fine Grin

On instagram you can see usernames of who has viewed your story.

HRHPrincessMegan · 21/07/2018 20:57

How can you see who’s viewed your stories on Instagram?

Annabelle4 · 21/07/2018 21:00

If you watch your own story back, it says 'seen by' at the bottom (on iPhone anyway)

It's quite unnerving, as it's usually the people you wouldn't expect. Tbf I think anyone can accidentally view your first story, as they all play into the other.

I'm not very Twitter savvy though

HRHPrincessMegan · 21/07/2018 21:16

Thanks. I’ll stalk with greater care going forwards.....

Amanduh · 21/07/2018 21:18

Instagram stories yes. Twitter, fb, instagram photos no

AsTheMilesTheyDisappear · 21/07/2018 21:18

Not on instagram I don't think

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 21/07/2018 21:20

I have an app called InTrack for Instagram that tells you who unfollows you and also has a stalkers section.

Annabelle4 · 21/07/2018 21:23

What's a stalkers section? 😳😳😳

JustWantCake · 21/07/2018 21:25

What on earth is the stalkers section haha GingerFoxInAT0phat

Instagram stories I knew about and it creeps me out when I see certain people view it. Like an ex wife of an office fling kept viewing my stories for a while.

I care about locations because I'm not sure I want people to know I'm not at home. I never post I'm away on holiday until after I've been.

DD and I were in the car discussing mundane crap and when she picked up her mobile FB live was running - two people were watching Shock

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 21/07/2018 21:44

I think it's people who view your profile - but I'm not sure how comprehensive it is. I use it for my business account but it also works on personal accounts.

BlueAnchor · 21/07/2018 21:45

If you look someone up, you come up on their 'person you might know feed‘

I suspect this is true and a link is made when you look at someone else's page, however I don't think it is the only way so is kind of covered.

I say I suspect just from experience. I saw the ex wife of an ex recently in the gym. Haven't seen her for three years, haven't had any contact, I haven't looked her up on Facebook - nothing. Came home from the gym, looked later at Facebook and there she was in my 'person you may know' feed....now unless fb is tracking me....or can read minds....
Just too much of a coincidence for me.

Annabelle4 · 21/07/2018 21:58

Please.... explain about Instagram 😱😱😱

bullyingadvice2017 · 21/07/2018 22:07

I also think People you may know can show you who's stalking you. And then if the other way around.

That's why your people you may know list is usually full of fuckers you hate!

Rach5ll · 21/07/2018 23:26

Its not a myth @JacquesHammer I work in the field. And yes obv it's the same vice versa

JacquesHammer · 21/07/2018 23:41

I work in the field. And yes obv it's the same vice versa

So do I.

If you search for Joe Bloggs on FB you won’t appear as a suggestion for him.

He will, however, appear in your suggestions.

Amanduh · 21/07/2018 23:42

The apps that advertise who view your profile are bs. The connections of people you know etc may come up but won’t be from looking at them. As long as you don’t like or click they’ll never know!

JacquesHammer · 21/07/2018 23:42

FB are trialling a “who viewed my profile” feature but it’s currently not working fully.
